Buhari has spent a year as the president without any meaningful impacts. just like his first shot at the presidency in 1983, he has been busy intimidating, harassing, witch hunting, and fighting perceived political enemies while rewarding corrupt political cronies. Nepotism and favouritism has become the order of the day.
He has also assumed the powers of the judiciary and legislative arms of government, keeping people in detention after being granted bail by courts of competent jurisdiction forgetting that "a man is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court". most people are afraid of speaking and asking questions because of fear for the unknown. Our nation is slowly becoming a police state, civil organisations are being crushed and security forces are now agents of molestation. Nigerians are suffering and everything about national life and dignity of life is at it's lowest ebb ever.
There are myriad of problems facing the nation ranging from fulani herdsmen tyranism, unemployment, inadequate power generation and supply, militancy, inadequate infrastructures, kidnapping, insurrections and separatist movements just to mention a few needing urgent attention but the president is busy running after shadows.
Nigerians as a people deserve better than this. We are suffering because the government lacks direction and focus. The president have about a year and nine months to turn things around before the 2019 general election campaigns sets in. Then we will know if we should continue with the "change" or "changing the deception called change".
