Undoubtedly, smartphones are becoming a major part of our lives. Be it for pleasure or business. There is always the reason to have one.
Battery life has been sort of a chronic issue for a while now, with all the latest features packed into phones now and the high demand of battery power needed to keep the phone running. Little wonder why the battery issue lingers on.

We often overlook the phone chargers, as they are as important as the battery in which they charge. They directly affect the battery life, most times, wrong usage shortens battery span of these batteries.
Here are some tips to consider when looking to buy your next charger.

1. Always check the power rating.
Be sure to select a charger with a charging current suitable for your phone, usually it is the bigger the battery the higher the charging current, hence a charger with a higher Ampere rating is selected by the manufacturer. Be sure you are not using a lower rated charger as it can take a longer time to completely charge, and an excessively high charge current may just ruin your battery.

2. Be sure to select the right charger
Chargers are nothing but adaptors that simply allow a fixed amount of current flow through them. Your phone does most of the charge regulation through an IC[integrated circuit] attached to it's charging unit.

It is advised that you do not use a charger with a current rating of more than 30% of your original charger(charger recommended by the manufacturer).
For example, your phone initially came with a 1A charger, you should not consider using a 1.7A charger. As most times the phone is set to take a particular amount of charge current irrespective of the charger rating, while it dumps the rest as heat.
Though the phone may charge considerably faster, but you will begin to feel the effect on your batteries soon enough.

3. Choose a suitable the right Usb Cord
As good as a charger may be,on a faulty or substandard usb cord, the charger would never function as expected. It is important that you choose the right USB cable. A simple trick is to check for a shiny gold metal at the head of the usb cord, the part that goes directly into the charger. A shiny gold metal most times indicate alluminium contacts which are always suitable as opposed to copper. But be advised that this is not a reliable method.

Alternatively, you can opt to go for the app AMPERE on google play store, it helps to display charging currents. Though not very accurate or reliable, it sure helps to paint a picture about your USB condition.

Finally, always purchasese your phone accessories from reputable dealers/stores. And be sure to make wise choices.
