According to Daily Sun, Nigerians complained that the suffering they are going through is as a result of the astronomical increase. Funmi Olayokun, a trader, said the N220 pump price of kerosene would further negatively impact poor Nigerians, who solely depend on the product for domestic use. She added that the prices of foodstuffs and other commodities, have increased by over 100 per cent saying, “Nigerians now go to bed hungry.” A taxi driver, identified as Seun Busari, berated the organised labour and civil society groups, noting that, “labour and civil society groups that Nigerians depended on to fight for their rights have sold out. Onyemaechi Ukaegbu, a computer analyst, however, blamed Nigerians for the development, saying “when people sin, God will raise a wicked king to afflict them. That is what is going on in Nigeria today, so the affliction has just begun. Nigerians must pay for their foolishness in voting for change. These basics are the only things that the Nigerian masses ask for. Affordable and available food staples, essential commodities, kerosene. The prices of these items were more or less stable throughout Goodluck Jonathan's administration.. Only for Buhari to come on board and unleash a fierce agenda of immiseration against the generality of Nigerians. Let the confused old monster called Buhari continue chasing shadows in the name of fighting corruption rather than face the basics of governance. It's a tragedy really. |
