For years, doctors and other health professionals have repeatedly warned us to limit the amount of eggs we should consume. Eggs of course are high in cholesterol and have been historically linked to cardiovascular disease.But times have changed. Research shows that eggs are now at the top of nutritious foods you should regularly. So what really happens to your body when you have three, or more daily?

A single egg has 180 – 186 mg cholesterol. Your liver can generate 1000-2000 mg cholesterol on a daily basis, but will vary its production based on how much cholesterol you ingest in your foods. That’s why whether you eat a high- or low-cholesterol meal there is little impact on your blood cholesterol content.

Nutrients

Because eggs are rich in several vitamins (A, B6, and E) and many minerals (iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and more), it’s considered a super food. Not many foods are in this nutrient-rich category.

Cholesterol

The type of cholesterol that eggs contain is HDL, considered the “good” cholesterol due to its benefits, such as helping your body produce testosterone, estrogen, cortisol, and vitamin D.

Furthermore, HDL doesn’t clog arteries like LDL, the “bad” cholesterol. In fact, it hinders the buildup of LDL and helps reduce the risk of various cardiovascular diseases.
