Does God Accept Prayers

There’s no doubt that the prayers of a true worshiper is accepted whenever supplicated so far some certain conditions or criteria are not breached.

Almighty Allah said in the holy Qur’an.

“Call upon me and I will answer you” [Surah Al-Ga’fir, 60]

It is evident from this verse that Allah has promised to accept and grant requests of his servants when asked.

In another verse, the Almighty made it clear that he would have neglected us in this world if not for the efficacy of our prayers

“My Lord would not care for you were if not for your prayers” [Surah Al-Furqan, 77]

If the person supplicating has not directly committed a sin (major&minor) which he/she knowingly refused to ask for forgiveness from Allah and repent from such sin and has not broken or severed any family ties the prayer of that worshipper is bound to be accepted by Allah Subhana Wataala in the following three ways:

-He accept immediately and grant his servant the actual desire or request

-He accept but use the prayer to curb away an equivalent unforseen event coming upon a servant

-He accept and keep the prayer till later or and till the day of resurrection for the servant.

This is seen in one of the hadiths of the holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who said:

“There is no Muslim who calls upon his Lord with a dua in which there is no sin or severing of family ties, but Allah will give him one of three things: Either He will answer his prayer quickly, or He will store (the reward for) it in the Hereafter, or He will divert an equivalent evil away from him.” They said: “We will say more dua.” He said: “Allah’s bounty is greater.”[Narrated by Ahmad, 10749; Al-Tirmidhi, 3573. Classed as Saheeh by Al-Albaani in Mishkaat Al-Masaabeeh, 2199]
Some scholars also sighted that Almighty Allah sometimes use the prayer (kept) to wipe away a major sin and avoid the servant from the punishment of the hereafter.

We are advised and enjoined to keep supplicating and never stop making dua’s whether our requests are granted directly and immediately or not. But we should have it in mind that our prayers are accepted in other ways that will benefit us more in the sight of Allah

Almighty Allah said in the Qur’an:

“And it may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you, and Allah knows, while you do not know.” [Surah Al-Baqarah, 216]

May Allah continue to accept our prayers and grant our request in and for this world and the hereafter.
