this is a partial damage..it would be repaired and all cost would be borne by the truck driver's insurer ,that's if its exceed the limit

The Op can go ahead to mention the name of the insurance company, there is no wahala in that. You can as well make mire noise as advised, it's legal. One thing I am very sure of is that every Insurance cover has a limit. the standard third party limit is N1million. If u use a broker, he/she can help negotiate to a limit of N2million.

The first question u need to confirm is if the third party cover of the trailer is original and not of a police make I pass. If it is fake, u will get nothing but if authentic, u get the cost of repairs not exceeding the limit depending on wot is stated in the policy.

Moreover, ur personal comprehensive insurance policy will fix this problem without any problem but not exceeding 60% of the value of the car. If it exceed, it will be treated as total loss and the insurance company will take the vehicle from you and issue their cheque for the sum insured excluding excess and depreciation as stated in your policy

Not true. Custodian is N1million limit which is the standard. A broker can negotiate to a limit of 2million at no additional cost or additional cost depending on the relationship btw the broker and the insurance company

First thing is pray the truck has a valid insurance policy. Then, you don't have a problem even the truck driver, except the damage exceeds 1million. The truck owner pays the excess. If you have a comprehensive cover on your wife's car. Your insurance firm would cover for the losses to the point of replacing the car with same value of the car.

First things first, verify the 3rd party policy of the truck, if genuine, the truck owner or driver should invite his policy company to come inspect the damage, a professional mechanic also will b invited to place a cost to the damage, if it's in excess of the policy limit, the truck driver pays up the balance, the limit for third party should be about 500k... with what I see, it's repairable

First u need to confirm the truck's insurance like someone mentioned. But generally 1m except in case of exception that is where it goes above 1m

So, bros, sorry to tell you that, the policy on that vehicle can't replace your car if its value is more than 1M, but can only take care of damages within the stipulated amount being covered!!! Well, if your cost of your car is within the range of 1million naira, it will get you another, but if it's above then it can't! It all depends on the quality and price of the car anyways!!!!

Limit is 1m. And like others have said hope the truck drivers insurance is valid.

That is not true and I will give instances. I have done a fake insurance before, because I didn't know anything about insurance then and one tout just went to do it for me. It was when the car had an accident that I got to know it is fake. Infact, the insurance company wanted to hand me over to the police. After a lot of discussions, they realized I was just ignorant and then they explain the working of the policies they had to me. Fast forward, I took a comprehensive policy on another car but unfortunately, it was stolen at gun point. The insurance company paid me and all I did was to add to the money and buy another car. Infact, I was so surprised. It was only the almighty Nigerian police that gave me so much problem because I needed a police report. You will not believe how much they are demanding from me before they could prepare the report.

I think we should try to encourage people to insure their properties. Thank God their is an insurance database from which you can check the status of your policy now. If the policy is not fake, then you have nothing to be afraid of.
