OGONI PEOPLE CELEBRATE GOVERNOR WIKE FOR KEEPING HIS CAMPAIGN PLEDGES

Ogoni people from different communities have celebrated Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for fulfilling his promise of starting work on the dualization of the Sakpenwa-Bori Road and embarking on the total rehabilitation of the Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori.

A statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media pointed out that several of Ogoni people in separate interviews on Friday expressed happiness that Governor Wike is a man who keeps his words.

Those interviewed commended the Wike administration for exhibiting commitment in the execution of the road and the school project which will enhance the economy of the area.

Barizi Menegbu, a resident of Bori noted that the construction of the road has helped the economy of the area as many residents have been engaged by the contractors.

In his remarks, David Winda commended the governor for taking steps to dualise the Sakpenwa-Bori Road, which will reduce carnage on the ever busy road that serves Gokana, Khana, Tai, Andoni and Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Areas.

A resident of Sakpenwa town, Ann Inchinga said the people appreciate the efforts of the Wike administration because the road has been abandoned for several years without action from previous administrations.

Also speaking, Lawrence Osam assured the Rivers State Government of the continued support of the Ogoni people on his commitment to the development of Ogoni communities.
Foreman of the contractor, Cornelia Gogo assured that the Sakpenwa-Bori Road will be executed in line with contract specifications. He said road will be completed on schedule.

At the Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori, the teachers and students sang the praises of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for changing their fortunes by rehabilitating the popular school.

Two teachers, Akpobari Akpoyor and Deezia Barikpoa said for the first time since they started teaching in the school, the institution now has modern facilities that will enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

The students said that before the intervention of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike they had planned to withdraw from the school due to the dilapidated infrastructure that demoralised them in the institution.
They praised Governor Wike for keeping his promise of reviving the prominent institution in the heartland of Ogoni ethnic nationality.

The students--Deemua Justice, Lebari Dornubari, Maakue Queen Letam and Lenwi Gold said they will remain eternally grateful to the governor for giving education the top priority attention that it deserves.
Vice Principal, Administration, Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori, Mr Kayi Green commended the quality of rehabilitation of facilities in the school by the governor.

He said that learning and teaching have been boosted in the school since the rehabilitation work started.
It will be recalled that Governor Wike pledged that the Sakpenwa-Bori Road and the Rehabilitation of the Birabi Memorial Grammar School will be completed on schedule as part of his comprehensive programme to develop Ogoni land.
