Do Investigative Journalism Still Existing In Nigeria? by amodu(m): 1:00pm On Jul 09, 2016 |
It just struck me and I begin to wonder, do investigative journalism still in existence in Nigeria? Something like exhuming the bad condition the Lebanese, Arabs and co who owns big factories in Nigeria expose Nigerians to, rots in the society, individuals with ill-acquired wealth, etcetera. After long soliloquizing, I concluded there is none, all we have are cheap and pocket oriented journalists. Apologies though to all amaible journalists. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

It hardly exists anywhere in the world these days. The massive crave for instant news, and the short attention span of information consumers have made it less appealing to invest in. The 24 hour TV news cycle and permanent social media news streams have redefined journalism (albeit in a bad way). Regardless, investigative journalism is the only kind of journalism worthy of respect. These days, some clown opens up a twitter account, copies and pastes a few news headlines and declares himself a "Journalist" to the world. 6 Likes |

Mynd44, Lalasticlala, I am not an expert in English language but please correct the title of this thread on the front page. I think the grammatical construction is wrong. Change the "existing" to "exist". |

OP do u even know wht is investigative journalism ? Of course we do practice it in Nigeria especially the print media. I know you don't read newspaper so u will not know. I saw a thread in nairaland today http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/07/nigerian- prison-inmates-pay-n30000-n100000-watch-movies- use-iphones-ipads/ this is a classical example of investigative journalism at OP and others. 2 Likes |

None by Nigerian based Journalists anymore. But for those that work with Sowore owner if Sahara reporters, they practice such. Abike Dabiri as a journalist for NTA Newsline back then, she seldom delve into such |
