Drdo Ground Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES) for air force.

It comprises of

1. one Control Station (CS)

2. Three Receiving Stations (RxS)

Integrated in master slave concept to search, detection, monitor, record and process the hostile emissions as well as to find the location of the emitter fulfilling the strategic EW requirements of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

One of the three Receiving Stations is also configured to operate in master slave configuration (with minimal degradation) in the absence of Control station.

Each Receiving Station contains three ELINT Receiver Segments in the 70MHz-40GHz frequency range. In addition, one COMINT Receiver Segment covering the 30 -1000MHz frequency range is employed to intercept, monitor the COMINT signals.

GBMES is envisaged to operate in the frequency range from 70 MHz to 40 GHz covering Radar bands and 30 MHz to 1000 MHz communication bands. The system is capable of interception, analysis and location fixing of radar signals and interception, monitoring of communication signals.

The salient features of the system are as follows

1. Wide Frequency coverage from 70MHz to 40GHz and COMINT segment 30-1000 MHz.

2. Achieve High Sensitivity & DF Accuracy with accurate Emitter Parameters.

3. Quad Superhet Receiver Front-end Technology.

4. Quad Digital Receiver Technology.

5. Built-in Radar Finger Printing System (RFPS).

6. Location Fixing (LF) using triangulation.

7. Generate Electronic Order of Battle (EOB).

8. Provide interface with onboard units i.e., GPS Receiver, SATCOM Link and Data Link Communication Unit of Air Force.

DRDO) conducted two successful launches of Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) today.


The launches were carried out today from a static vertical launcher from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.

Indigenously designed and developed by DRDO for Indian Navy, VL-SRSAM is meant for neutralizing various aerial threats at close ranges including sea-skimming targets. The current launches were carried out for demonstration of vertical launch capability as part of its maiden launch campaign. On both occasions, the missiles intercepted the simulated targets with pinpoint accuracy. The missiles were tested for minimum and maximum range. VL-SRSAM with Weapon Control System (WCS) were deployed during the trials.


AFAIK there will be a land based version also in the future . Mounted on a high mobility vehicle with vertical launch configuration.
