Miguel Gives Tearful Speech About Police Violence Onstage At Wireless Festival by asifawarley(m): 10:31am On Jul 13, 2016
The fatal police related shootings of two black men, Alton
Sterling and Philando Castile (on July 5 and July 6, respectively) have fueled racial tensions in the country, proving to be a trying time for the black community, Miguel included. After venting his frustrations with the loss of so many black lives on a track entitled “How Many,” which was released on Friday (July cool, the singer carried his frustrations over to the Wireless Festival stage in London.

Occurring on the same day the song was released, Miguel’s performance was seen embodying the same passion he expressed on the song. “We can’t let sh** just blow over and not take action anymore,” Miguel began. “Look, our children will inherit this Earth when we’re gone. What are we leaving for them? What are we doing for them now, not tomorrow? Now! We cannot rest anymore. We have to do something. We have to say something. I’m sorry if I’m preaching to you. But it’s true.”

The heartfelt speech left tears in his eyes, and presumably, the eyes of many others.
