Carlos Garciavelez Finds Beauty In Urban Decay At NY Men's Fashion Week by greentrends: 9:37am On Jul 14, 2016 |
Clothing designer Carlos Garciavelez is a trained architect, author and lecturer at Harvard University. He uses his training at Rhode Island School of Design and Harvard to create a menswear line that combines urban design and what he calls "everyday sensations" to produce a streamlined show for New York Men’s Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2017, which kicked off on Monday. Garciavelez showed off his menswear line, GARCIAVELEZ, along with designers and brands such as Carlos Campos, Michael Kors, Joseph Abboud, John Varvatos, Perry Ellis, Tommy Hilfiger and Theory. His collection featured themes about urban decay and the beauty that emerges from it. Models were meant to look like street-surfers – very beachy and dewy, posing in a front of wire mesh and tin paintings. The Mexican-born designer's suiting looked unstructured but not casual. He compares creating patterns to drawing plans. Garciavelez jumped into clothing design because he says it’s a similar process to architecture – but clothing design is faster. His clothes are meant to be worn by city dwellers, maneuvering through other people and small spaces, which requires your clothing to be flexible and effortlessly enough to move with you. Garciavelez lives in New York but commutes to Harvard to teach. In the past, he’s worked with such esteemed designers as Alexander McQueen in London and Gabellini Shepard in New York.Read more at:http://www.marieaustralia.com/formal-dresses | http://www.marieaustralia.com |
