henroo5: Albeit, I have not been to Singapore, however, I had a Singaporean friend and totally in love with the country. Singapore is a very strict nation, and your brother not having a RECOGNISED degree will not have a job whatsoever. Secondly, the economy has deteriorated over the last six months with the unemployment rate hitting 2.1%, the highest in 7 years. 5,500 Singaporeans were laid off between June and July, the citizens are pissed with the government and as a result Loong's administration has tightened employment passes for foreigners; skilled and unskilled. There are three levels of employment pass - which have agencies that recruit non-citizens. Unless for unskilled jobs (which the average Singaporean detest), any other job MUST be advertised for Singaporeans for maximum TWO weeks after which a non-citizen can be recruited. Companies are fined heavily for disobeying this rule. I'll advise that your brother comes home at the right time and don't DARE overstay your visit, the rise of IS and its terror activities has emboldened the government to go against any individual suspected of causing havoc, citizens and non-citizens alike. It had its first bank robbery attack in 8 years recently (Singapore is the 2nd safest city on earth according to the EIU), the country was stunned; the culprit has been recognised (Canadian) and is currently under arrest in Thailand. Finally, I implore your brother to be of good behaviour and avoid drugs, harassing women, stealing or any bad behaviour, Singapore has the death penalty and doesn't condone rubbish irrespective of your nationality. Also remember that it's the most expensive place on earth. 8 Likes |

henroo5: Woooww.... Congrats. They can only give you a work permit. U have to stay dia for 5years before u have a PR (permanent Resident) permit. Its surprising you got a job dia. Cos dia racism is plenty. They rarely employ foreigners except those Bangladesh, Srilanka, Philipines. But there is nothing impossible with God. U must have been favoured. Its a beautiful place to stay, though u'll be kinda bored sha with those chinkos dia and if you careful u spend less on food. When you get dia, I can give u some hints on how and wia to eat/buy our naija foods. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Nigerians In Singapore Urgent Help From You by Gerrard59(m): 8:15am On Aug 28, 2016 |
henroo5: Only skilled individuals do get the permanent resident qualification, and this is after a long stay in the country. Construction jobs are mostly given to individuals from the Indian sub continent. If it were to be easy to become a PR, then a plethora of Indians would have become one. After all, Indians are part of the Singaporean fabric (from historical migration). E.g .Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam. Apply for you for permanent resident? Individuals apply not companies. PR is even difficult to get, not after the "unprecedented" protest against the White Paper of 2013. Mystikay: Depends on your qualification. Singapore rarely employ foreigners to teach their kids. Everything is regulated including people who clean the streets. 1 Like |

Of course Brother there's a lot of plenty jobs in Singapore, there's work for only Singaporeans and there's work for general, i believe if you have reasons to stay there you can work of course very easy, your basic pay will be like $1000 to $2000 per month but remember saving is important because Singapore is one of the most expensive countries in the world, just plate of chicken rice cost $2.80, Noodles $1.20, I'm telling you this not because i live in there, but because i have very close friend who is living there, because I'm about to apply for Singapore Institute of management scholarship and if i win i will surely go to study there |

theirs this opportunity that comes with work permit, as a Waiter in Singapore, with accommodation and feeding provided, so am asking is it good for one to take the opportunity, and could one save money at Singapore, again how long could it take to get PR thanks for your response? |
Re: Nigerians In Singapore Urgent Help From You by Nobody: 2:32pm On Feb 04, 2019 |
charles2468: I'm sorry but it is impossible for a waiter (a black foreigner at that) to get PR. PR takes time even for fellow Asians. For the Singaporean government to award you a PR status, your earnings should be more than S$4, 000. In summary, just save and find somewhere else if you really desire to get PR. 2 Likes |

Re: Nigerians In Singapore Urgent Help From You by good4all40: 3:57pm On Jun 20, 2019 |
omololaglo: No it can not be changed to work visa, Singapore rarely gives her work permit these days easily especially to Africans. The country is superb for tourism though. I will strongly advice you to look for another country if your intent is to hustle and finally secure a PR, but it is very perfect for tourism you are definitely going to enjoy yourself. please don't stay more than the duration of days stamp on your passport there is no way you can TECO in Singapore the country is very small and entirely urban just leave the country as soon as you about to exhaust your days. Climbing the Kilimanjaro bare footed in a scorching sun is more easier than getting Singapore PR it is not easy at all, and according to their law marrying a Singaporean does not make you qualify to get the PR automatically especially if you are Africans. I have a Ghanaian friend who is married to a Singaporean she had two kids for him, my friend applied for the PR 3 times and he was refused that 3 times, and the sad part is Singapore will never tell you the reason they refuse you in all their visa categories, despite my friend married to a Singaporean they told him to his face that marrying one of us does not qualify you for an automatic PR he presently lives in Malaysia but visits his family regularly because as Ghanaian he does not require a prior visa before visiting Singapore it is visa on arrival for him, Most countries in Africa enjoy visa on arrival deal in Singapore but not Nigerian, but it is a great country for Tourism as l mentioned earlier and to my understanding that is the only thing they want you to enjoy in the country not coming to live in their already crowded island country, I wish you the best 2 Likes 1 Share |
