Nigeria is really one funny country . One story that keeps cropping up no matter how one tries to get it off the airwaves or social media is the Dino Melaye/Remi Tinubu face off.

This incident has taken so much energy, time and financial resources of Nigerians when the solution is to simply move on. Dino Maleye made some shameful comments which is a pure representation of his irresponsible self judging from his history of domestic violence but one wonders why has the situation suddenly been hijacked by certain politicians for their own personal gain ?

Judging by the protests in Abuja against Dino Maleye the question on the lips of every Nigerian is where these protesters where while Dino was panel beating his spouses blue and black ? It is not like his victims were quiet as they spoke publicly yet no one deemed it fit to speak out? That Dino has been in the habit of abusing women doesn't qualify his act but the purpose of the writing is to spot the insincere motives of the protesters. A few weeks ago, a lady preacher by name Eunice Olawale was murdered in cold blood by miscreants in the same Abuja for no just cause and presently with no arrest made by the Police, no one including these women (protesters) have kept mute. The case of Tinubu/Maleye in the eyes of the law can be termed "attempted assault" as Dino never fulfilled his threat while that of Mrs. Eunice is first degree murder yet no one is speaking up.

Nigeria is going through a lot right now with inflation, unemployment, insecurity and poverty at it's peak hence the reason politicising of issues like that of Maleye/Remi should be halted. Is Remi Tinubu really acting a script ? Are the Tinubu's overblowing this incident to get back at Dino Maleye who is Bukola Saraki's greatest supporter ? If Remi Tinubu has a case with Dino, she should do the appropriate thing by suing him for assault in the law court. This issue should not be a distraction for the Senate whose public rating has plummeted as a result of corruption and infighting . It is already public knowledge that her husband , Bola Tinubu seems to be losing his grip not only in Nigerian politics but also in his party of which he is a self-acclaimed chieftain, thus the reason he wants to use the incident to gain both public sympathy and remain relevant.

The writer will never condone such acts like those of Melaye but surely will want to see protesters protesting the current administration's lack of vision and foresight of which Bola Tinubu (suspected funder of the protest) is a stakeholder . In a period of poverty , one cannot underestimate the power of a few bags of rice and food seasoning or that of a few notes of N1000 which will not only swing people's actions but also people's minds when offered . We all know how these public protests start and end . A clear example is that of #BringBackOurGirls which has died a natural death after achieving it's purpose of smearing the image of the former President Goodluck Jonathan after which the co-founder (Ms. Hadiza Usman) was compensated with the appointment of Chief of Staff to Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and then later The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority .

Nigerians need to focus on more important issues at this critical time and cannot be fooled.
