The kidnappers of Lagos monarch, a first class traditional ruler in Lagos, Oba Yushau Goriola Oseni, the Oniba of Ibaland, demand N500 million ransom.
The kidnappers stormed the monarch’s palace at Iba area of Lagos around 11:30pm on Saturday and took him away, escaping through the waterways.
According to a palace source, the gunmen killed Oseni’s guard, a Neighbourhood Watch officer and then shot his wife before escaping with the monarch.
Recalls, gunmen stormed the palace of the Oba at about 11:30pm on Saturday and forcefully took the monarch away, killed his guard and shot one of his wives.
Men of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Federal Anti-Robbery Squad, army and the navy were seen at the palace of the oba this afternoon as they began manhunt for the gunmen who kidnapped the oba.
A Police Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, was station at a junction close to the oba’s palace at Iba Junction, as large detachment of security personnel has been deployed to the area with the mandate to rescue the aged traditional ruler.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmos had early disclose that the police had begun manhunt for the kidnappers in a bid to rescue Oseni.
She said the gunmen who abducted the traditional rulers might be pipeline vandals who resorted to kidnapping since their vandalism business had been curtailed.
Badmos added that the Lagos police would work with their counterparts from Ogun State to ensure that the monarch was released at the shortest time possible.
