Lawsan-ucc Protests by zonehit12(m): 5:59pm On Jul 25, 2016
The university of calabar calabar, law student association(lawsan-ucc) took to a peaceful protest at the early hours of this morning.
Information was that students proceeded to the faculty building with blacK and white decrying perceived injustice metted to them..prior to this, the faculty of law building entrance and the library section leading to law students lecture rooms was under lock and key.
Information reaching us is that the perceived injustice was generally centered on issues regarding lawsan election which was cancelled twice on several grounds one of which was irregularity regarding the manipulation of ballot paper. Furthermore report reaching us is that the Academic Adviser to the association(lawsan-ucc) name witheld,.tried to dissolve the eleco that was constitutionally formed. More also a student of the faculty who talked to us in anger mentioned that the final year student including the sole administrator who were active in the electioneering processes are threatened and intimidated that they won't go to "law school", however the veracity of the statements above has not been confirmed. Some section of the diploma students are said to be threatened in the guise that they won't transcend to the main programme, reasons based on the fact that they refused to discontinue their ventures as eleco members
On reaching the faculty building the sub-Dean of law Dr.Adoga Adams pleaded with the students to unlock the building for the purposes of processing the exams for the final year students who their results must reach the Nigeria Law School on or before the 5th of next month being August 2016.
Notably Hon.Jake Otu Enya,a lecturer of the faculty of law being present at time towed the same line with the sub-dean however he added that if the plights of the students are true as they posited, that the faculty board will get to ponder over it.
The peaceful protest attracted the likes of Dr.Egaga(the director academic planning unit),The deputy chief security officer of the university,Asp Abang jelath,Mr Usani(senior surveillance operative ).The SUG President(Daniel Joseph),The former SUG President, comr.Barr.Inaku John.and the director of welfare SUG (Emmanuel Peter) whom all posited that the students should calm down that the university management is going to look into the matter.

Considerably the Dean of law was not around as at the time to say or contribute anything to this issue as well as the Vice Chancellor Prof.Zana .I.Akpagu.
