The militants of the Niger Delta are spoken of with one major word. Even in schools and universities today, the word 'militant' goes with 'amnesty'.

We all remember MEND, and how they came up with the kidnapping and all. The Nigerian Government offered each militant amnesty of approx. N60,000 a month to drop their weapons.

The Niger Delta Avengers, on the other hand, don't seem to want any kind of amnesty. They don't look like they want to talk with the government.

The MEND militants calmed down when government showed them money.

But these Avengers don't look like they care about money (They haven't shown signs of that so far). So, should we call them militants? And what exactly do they want from the government?

They Are Not Millitants, if they were millitants a Phone Call from the most Respected Figure in Nigeria will put an end to all this.

THEY ARE SIMPLY COMMON CRIMINALS

They want OUT.....
They are tired of Afonjaism.

tired of Nepotism.

tired of A Northocracy.

Tired of that sense that an overwheming population due north is eating away ur wealth.

I ask this same question until I saw in Channels TV two days ago their demands.

1. They want internation community to be part of the dialoque so that the resolutions will be binding.
2. They want implementation of the 2014 confab report that clearly restructured Nigeria for the betterment of all, and operating the country on true federalism where states make their laws and hold their resources contributing to to central goverment.
3. They want ownership of 65% oil block.
4. They want apology for Alams dead.

Looking at these their demands, number one and two are main concerns which is not difficult for the federal goverment to implement if we want Nigeria to be trully great.

the Number three deman is inconsequential if number two demand is implemented.

the last demand is total rubbish because nobody killed Alams.

Whether AVENGERS or MEND, they want to enjoy the oil that comes from their lands. Ken Saro-Wiwa wanted the same thing and went about it peacefully, he was hanged by Sanni Abacha- please remember that before you criticize.

They want to hold their destinies in their hand, govern, protect, educate and develop at their pace without having to be bogged down with demeaning titles like minority feeding the majority. They need all regions to pull their own weight and contribute to the centre an agreed percentage of earnings from their resources.

They want JUSTICE and all these so called dialogue without addressing the germane issues are a mere exercise in futility.
