Summer is here again and the kids are home. Summer holiday happens to be the longest holidays for school children. Although, holidays are for relaxation, our kids can also learn new skills during this period. Many schools/organizations organize summer holiday activities. So here is a run-down of some activities your kids can engage in:

1. Art Craft:

This comprises of bead making, pottery, tie and die, and mat weaving. drawing, painting and so on. Children from age 6 can partake in any of these activities under supervision especially the tie and die because of the use of hot water.


2. Language:

Learning a new language can be fun for kids. so enroll your kids this summer to learn language such as French, German, Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) and even their local dialects. You never know when he or she may need it. Kids that are 4 years and above can engage in this activity.


3. Photography:
Who doesn't love photography? An opportunity for kids to try their hands on camera is always a delight. So if your kids are of age (6 years and above), you can register them to learn photography this summer.


4. Musical Instruments:
Boys show interest in drumming at an early age of 2. Here is an opportunity for you to groom this skill. Your kids can try their hands on other musical instruments such as violin, sax, piano, and so on.


5. Swimming:
Apart from the health benefit of swimming, it is also a life saving skill kids should possess. If your child wants to learn how to swim, please ensure that the instructor is a trained personnel and that trained life guards are on ground.

6. Bakery:

Food always brings excitement. Kids love pastries.There are so many confectioneries that kids can learn. This include; chin-chin, small chops, buns, meat pies, and so on.


7. Hair Making:

This one is for the older kids (12 years and above). Boys and girls can learn hair making.


8. Dress Making:
Like hair making, older kids can learn dress making. Having knowledge of dress making can help them decide whether to follow it up as a career or just passion.

Your kids do not have to learn all these activities at once. You can draw up a "to do list" for them indicating at what age they learn these activities. For the younger kids, you have to choose the activity that fit their age group. The things he or she shows interest in can help you pick from the lot. You may ask the older kids to decide which of these activities they will like to learn. Do not impose your choice on them. But if you must do, let them understand the reasons behind your choice.
