The new leadership of the Nigeria Council of Women Societies (NCWS) led by the president Mrs Laraba Gloria Shoda on Tuesday 26th of July, 2016 met with HE Haj Aisha Buhari in the Aso Villa. The new Exco was sworn in following a free and fair election conducted during the NCWS National Convention held between July 15th - July 17th in Abuja. The convention was attended by a 20-woman strong delegation from Kebbi state led by the president of the state chapter Mrs M Danga. Amongst National officials elected and present at yesterday was Dr Bilkisu Magoro as well as the Kebbi state Patron and wife of the governor Dr Zainab Atiku Bagudu HE Haj Aisha Buhari as the wife of the president is by constitution and tradition the Grand patron of the society and she was formally invested yesterday in a colorful ceremony. As the new NCWS settles down, H.E, Mrs. Aisha M. Buhari, tasked the leadership to review its current constitution (which has not been reviewed since 2005); to reflect current needs of Nigerian women especially in relation to over 2M displaced women and children. She also asked the women to chart a course for a greater future for women and children in Nigeria. She emphasised the importance of involving all stakeholders in building a strong partnership as enshrined by the NCWS slogan: SERVICE IN UNITY. Previously in June 2016, NCWS Kebbi State hosted the outgone NCWS National President, Dr. (Mrs) Nkechi Okemini Mba, during the inauguration of the Executive Members of the Kebbi State Chapter. Highlights of the visit included a courtesy call to the office of the Deputy Governor, H.E. Alhaji Samaila Dabai Yombe. He received an award on behalf of the Governor HE Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in recognition of his continual support to women in the State and the Nation at large. Others present at the investiture were Minister of Women Affairs Senator Jummai Alhassan, Mrs Akinfuluire SA SDG to the president and former Deputy governor of Lagos, Recent MD Niger Delta Development Commission Mrs Ibim Semenitari, Dame Pauline Tallen, Haj Hajjo Sani, Honourable Asabe Vilita, wives of ministers governors and other associates. The IPOB yoots will still cry as usual on this thread forgetting that they will still vote for a northern candidate under PDP in 2019. Whether buhari wins in 2019 or PDP it's still a win win for the north The question now is when will the IPOB yoots be fortunate to vote for an igbo candidate under PDP since biafra will never come? Will they continue to be a pawn in the hands of every region? Time will tell |
