Lets talk a little about heart disease.

Men and women may experience different types of symptoms for heart disease, and the severity of the symptoms vary. Therefore, it is very important that people are aware of the symptoms of heart disease and learn how they can help prevent it. The severity of symptoms in men and women vary and it is therefore very important that people are aware of these symptoms as this will help us to learn how to prevent it

SIGNS TO LOOK OUT

In some cases, people may not experience any symptoms at all before suffering heart attack. Some will experience mild and infrequent chest pain to signal them to a problem. The severity of Coronary heart disease symptoms varies from person to another. While some people experience mild infrequent chest pain, some experience severe chest pains. These symptoms usually make every day activities difficult for people that experiences them.

We have two major warning signs of heart diseases. They are shortness of breath and chest pain(angina). In some cases, people with heart disease may experience difficulties breathing while at rest or performing physical tasks. Chest pain which is called Angina includes pain, squeezing or burning in the chest and feeling of heaviness in the heart. The burning sensation sometimes travel into neck, left arm or jaw. Most times doctors and physician’s mistakes Angina for indigestion in women and this causes it to be dictated late in some cases. It is advised especially for women, whenever you feel these symptoms and you are told that it is indigestion. Please don’t hesitate to go for further heart checkups if the symptoms persist after the treatment for indigestion.

Warning Signs may also include:

Cold Sweats
Nausea and dizziness that cannot be explained by other causes
Light-headedness
Swelling of the ankles or legs
Fluttering, rapid heartbeats
Feeling fatigued for an extended period of time

Risk Factors

The important step to take is to know the risk factors. This will help you to take steps to address the ones that can be changed. There are two major risk factors for heart disease. They are controllable and uncontrollable risk factors. Uncontrollable risk factors, just like the name sounds cannot be changed but there is a way you can reduce the chances of developing heart disease. Let’s talk a little bit of these Controllable and Uncontrollable hearts disease risk factors and ways we can reduce the chances of developing full blown heart diseases.

Uncontrollable Risk Factors

We have three major Uncontrollable risk factors. they are:

Aging. Nine out of 10 people that died from coronary heart diseases are over 65 years of age. The coronary heart diseases factor increase as you age.

Gender. Once a woman has gone through menopause, the risk of heart disease increases. Generally, Men have a greater risk of heart disease than women. They develop it earlier in life when compared with their female folks.
Heredity. If several members of your family have had heart disease, there is a high possibility of you developing heart disease.

Controllable Risk Factors

Changes in Life style can help you to reduce the chances of developing heart disease even if you have Uncontrollable risk factors. That is where the Controllable risk factors comes in.
