Muslims in France have attended Catholic mass in churches and cathedrals across the country in a show of solidarity following the gruesome murder of a French priest. Interfaith services were also held in Italy.

Dozens of Muslims were among the faithful who packed into the Gothic cathedral in the town of Rouen, northern France, on Sunday.

Policemen and soldiers stood guard outside, seeking to reassure a jittery community five days after two jihadi teenagers killed an 85-year-old priest inside a church just a few kilometers away in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray.

"This morning we extend a special welcome to our Muslim friends,"Rouen Archbishop Dominique Lebrun said in his homily.

"I thank you in the name of all Christians. In this way you are affirming that you reject death and violence in the name of God."

A number of Muslim leaders attended the service, along with three nuns who were at the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray when Father Jacques Hamel was brutally murdered at the altar.

The killing gave rise to questions about lapses in security after it was reported that both 19-year-old offenders were known to authorities and had attempted to reach Syria. There were also fears the attack could create possible tensions between the religions and add to divisions in French society.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls on Sunday called for a new "pact" with the country's 5 million Muslims, which make up the largest Muslim population in Europe.

"Islam has found its place in France... contrary to the repeated attacks of populists on the right and far-right," he said, calling for the rejection of Islam to be combatted "with the greatest strength."

Churches in other French cities also opened their doors to Muslims on Sunday. Dalil Boubakeur, the rector of the Mosque of Paris, was among those who attended congregation in the capital's iconic Notre Dame cathedral.

"The situation is serious," he told broadcaster BFMTV. "Time has come to come together so as not to be divided."

Multifaith services were held across Italy too, notably at Rome's Santa Maria di Trastevere church. In Naples, Abdullah Cozzolino from Italy's Islamic Confederation spoke in the Treasure of St. Gennaro chapel next to the Duomo cathedral, stressing the [/b] "need of dialogue, more affirmation of shared values of peace, of solidarity, of love, out of respect for our one God, merciful and compassionate."[b]

But 99% of these refugees are Muslims. For the fact that most Muslims in Europe are not violent against the kafirs does not mean it is no longer in Islamic theology for them to do so (Quran 9:29-30, 5:51, Quran 98:6, Qur'an 48:29, Quran 8:60, Qur'an 2:191-192) and sahih bukhari 4:52:256.

The only way you can objectively appraise Muslims/Islam is to consider the status of non-muslims in countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, Pakistan, etc. You cant say Muslims are tolerant in a country where they are minority because they stand no chance dislodging the majority easily, but as Muslim population grow, their threat, violence and special demands grow. There is no other religious demographic that is as troublesome as the Muslims'.

All I can say is that is you are not honest in addressing Islamic problems on the host society, you are among the people that claim your religion has been hijacked by the minority terrorist without even looking at the core teachings of Mohammed with respect to Muslims and non-muslims relationship.

1st and foremost, let me say ONCE AGAIN that i aint Muslim, just because i stand for my beliefs, on any given subject, doesnt mean i automatically belong to that group/issue at hand. its called HAVING AN OPINION... unless, only muslims have the right to defend Muslim issues?!

3rd, stop focussing on quran verses, as the bible got just as much verse that call for killing of non Christians and/or people that dont abide by its teachings, yet you dont go assuming that this is what ALL christians aim to do (just because a few xtian extremists do). it all comes down to each and every INDIVIDUALS and how they interpret what is written on all these holy books. anyone with an evil heart/mind will read these holy books with evil intent/understanding (whether quran/bible/torah etc). claiming that the whole quran is calling for murder of non muslims, and thats what ALL muslims are aiming for in life, is completely WRONG!

here is a SIMPLE and VERY INTELLIGENT way to look at this issue, ask yourself these simple questions:
- are these extremist views/actions (aka to kill innocent human beings) written in the constitution of any country in this world?
- why use the actions of a few handful extremists to generalise and point fingers at +1.5Billion muslims?
- Isis stronghold is mostly in Irak/Libya, is that not the country we "liberated" and put a puppet gov in place?
- what would you propose as the solution to resolve this whole issue?
