gebest: That was the last stroke that broke the camel's back. I believe that government has learned their lesson. The Niger Delta people and in fact all Nigerians deserve to be payed little stipends from the oil God endowed this country with, the wealth shouldn't be for a few greedy politicians . |

Deen77: Nigerian politicans are very wicked. If they used those looted funds to set up industris and employ people. I doubt if there will any criss or militancy in those areas. |

HungerBAD: Buhari too once thought like you. In his inaugural speech, he promised to end amnesty by December last year but here he is still paying. Reality has made him have second thought and he is gradually conforming to militants' wish. If you find yourself in his shoe, you might even do worse. Talk is cheap. 3 Likes |

davodguy: It was a pity GEJ didn't address the issues involved due to state political fights with then governors. And many politicans there are very selfish and vain. Though as I said b4, if the past government used federal might as they did in Lagos and Abuja in those days I believe by now most of those their negative mind set could hv changed for the best. Our system is very corrupt and primitive |

AntiWailer: I blame their present governors too, because they could hv help to address the past government failures. But development is not a one day something, if the then military leaders were sincere on the welfare of Niger deltans they could hv done something. See the massive development in Abuja. Nigeria situations pains me a lot, rather than finding solutions we are involved in irrelevant issues |

It is only when you become a trouble maker in this country, that is when government will take you serious Imagine ex-militants receiving stipends when graduates are jobless and penniless |

This is totally wrong and not healthy for the sovereignty of a state like Nigeria. It is very bad for a state to negotiate with a terrorist/militant. This will prompt more groups and jobless or low income persons to indulge in such crime with the expectation of a negotiating reward from the government. The government should rather spend the funds meant to settle the militants to equip its military and engage the militants. But in all this happenings, i am suspecting our leaders and politicians behind these groups sponsoring them for their selfish gains. So, they front as advisers to the govt advising her to negotiate and compensate the militant groups whom later pass the funds back to these suppose govt representatives |

LoveMachine: Very small payments. The government is just foolish. The amnesty payments was reduced by as much as 70% in a budget that increased by 20%. The problem is the militants have been emboldened and we wasted a year and a half shouting new Sherrif in town. Na Sherrif we vote for? The previous payment was so small that one month of losses would have taken care of this even beyond previous budgets. Who advice's bubu? |

That is total foolishness and gross stupidity. But it is rather good for the government and governments to provide jobs for more and more of their jobless people. Osun state government once provided some jobs for many of her jobless citizens, let the government do like and not be paying criminals because they are criminals and for criminality. |

OduduaDefender:The essence of approving the 13% derivation money to oil producing states is to develop the communities & check youth restiveness. With the agitations I think that concession should be diverted fully to paying the militants since they prefer stomach infrastructure to infrastructure that will improve their communities. |

HungerBAD: In as much as I don't support the activities of some of these youths in the creek, I think what FG has done is a wise decision even though is not a long term solution. It won't be nice to label them as criminals because, that will only lead to further hardship in the country as a result of pipelines destruction. It pays nobody if FG chooses military action beside, it can never solve the problem. Even if you kill every youths in the area, many unborn will still agitate tomorrow. FG must draw a master plan for the development of the ND especially, the oil producing communities. A developmental projects that will ensure that every stakeholders and the youths in the area must be directly involved. 1 Like |

tiwiex: Some people got so excited at the thought of a big bad tough running affairs that they forgot the concept of collateral damage. They went for the big fish instead of starting from the ground and working their way up. The payments were a sneeze In comparison to the tornado that hit this year's revenue. Buhari needs to drop his sycophants because they have him gassed up to fail. chamboy: How many groups sprang up even when top boys weren't paying their lowers? Open the maritime school and give a concrete date in future of when the amnesty program will end. It's not a hard concept. These people feel cheated in the grand scheme. They don't want much just an opportunity. I've never been to the creeks but I've seen footage. We're lucky they have not done worse sooner.

A king is only as good as his entourage. Buhari has some not so good people around him from the looks of things. Too many yes men. He should be using his Southern bloc way more than he has. |

70% of Militants Don't need development..what they need is small-small pocket money to carry babes and smoke weeds..they would continue to do that until the end of the world..DON'T NEED TO BOTHER YOURSELF..see, we getting to the end of the world where VIOLENCE will INCREASE and will pay. But my ADVICE to them and to ALL EVIL POLITICIANS is that there is a LAKE OF FIRE.. |
