GrizzlyBear: Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on which side of the fence one stands), I can only speak for my self: I AM NOT AN ATHEIST Those who have ears, let them hear the words of my testimony. While it seems I am an Atheist is because I do not accept/follow the method of worship as found in Christendom today. The ''die by fire'', ''all my enemies must die'', ''if you dont pay your tithe you will die/you wont succeed'' and the ''who will sow 1 million to the lord stand up'''type of worship. Never. Also, that I am a Theist does not also imply that any one can just throw silly illogical arguments, claims, and false information about God, the universe etc. and then expect me to swallow it hook, line and sinker. Spirituality and Truth cannot be separated. Now back to your comment. Why your friend is saying so is because it is assumed atheism is not African. It is seen as an influence from the developed world. While this might hold true for many people, I do know people who became atheists on their own accord, most after very terrible experiences that they expected God to intervene and it seems as if their prayers were not answered. Usually during this situation the pastors and the churches seemingly fail them woefully too. Speaking from my experience they do exist. However, the question is at what proportion? Could it be that there are more atheists who are not ''100 % Nigerians''? 1 Like |

Alright, this is me being friendly right now. KingEbukaNaija:In the long run, there is no useful distinction between Atheists and Deists. Both sets of people reject the Idea of a personal God: a notion which is central to Christianity. Being a Deist, as opposed to being an Atheist, has no advantages, both sets of people are going to burn in your hell, both sets of people are more likely to believe in scientific explanations of creation as opposed to creation stories, both sets of people do not believe in an intervening God, and by extension, the validity of prayers. That you're so obsessed with the difference baffles me. Deist or Atheist is simply a matter of choice and from my observations, the majority of Deists are really just Agnostics who've developed an emotional connection to Order, Logic, and Rationality. that they begin to develop reverence for it. Being one or the other doesn't help your cause in anyway. We Christians have accessed the kind of evidence you want to support God's existence and come on its ludicrous . You cannot subject a supernatural being to any scientific observation. But Thomas subjected Jesus to direct observation and he happily obliged. Is God partial now? I know he went all "blessed are those who believe without seeing . . . " stuff, but some people don't care about "blessed" they care about seeing. he made them that way. So since you are clearly not 100 percent certain , will you recant your unbelief in God if you discover your kind of evidence that proves His existence ?That's . . . what atheists have been repeating since the dawn of time. our own kind of evidence is called objective and unambiguous evidence. If that is offered, Sure. But then, it wouldn't be "belief". it would be "acceptance" get it? Atheist personalities don't care for belief in claims. they care for acceptance of facts. That's the fundamental difference between our brains. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Teempakguy: Bro . When you atheists start your illogical explanations about anything , just start with "in my opinion" so I'll know the delusion is exclusive to you . Stop making stupid statements like they are established facts . Read up deism and mention when you understand the concept . 1 Like |

KingEbukaNaija:Definition of Deism: belief in the existence of a supreme being, specifically of a creator who does not intervene in the universe. I'm sorry, how does this conflict with what I wrote? 1. Will a Deist go to heaven according to christian doctrine? 2. Will a Deist expect his/her prayers to be answered? 3. Will a Deist reject evolution because they have some religion that directly conflicts with it? 4. Will a Deist reject the big bang theory, as opposed to attributing it to a non-intervening creator? 5. Will a Deist Describe a creator anthropologically or otherwise? 6. Will a Deist be obligated to propagate his/her beliefs upon promise of eternal life? 7. Will a Deist Take the bible to be the Ultimate source of Knowledge and wisdom in the world? Like I earlier said, I'll see you when you get your sanity back. 3 Likes |

Teempakguy: See eh , If you've noticed I am not usually active because these arguments are now banal and vapid . So don't expect me to continue this argument . Pay attention to the emboldened texts and take correction abeg . Teempakguy: 1. Will a Deist go to heaven according to christian doctrine? God's judgement decides that . 2. Will a Deist expect his/her prayers to be answered? What's the point of this question since you claim to understand Deism .
There are theistic evolutionists . Or religious people who are evolutionists . There is no proof for macro-evolution . A deist could most likely subscribe to progressive creationism though there are certainly Deists who are evolutionists . 4. Will a Deist reject the big bang theory, as opposed to attributing it to a non-intervening creator? This is incongruous with the definition 5. Will a Deist Describe a creator anthropologically or otherwise? Every deist has his own concept of the creator . Most of these concepts are influenced by religion . "Anthropomorphic" is the appropriate term . 6. Will a Deist be obligated to propagate his/her beliefs upon promise of eternal life? A deist's version of eternal life could be reincarnation . 7. Will a Deist Take the bible to be the Ultimate source of Knowledge and wisdom in the world? If He wants to . Its very advisable to Like I earlier said, I'll see you when you get your sanity back. Congrats on your graduation from secondary school . What were your college choices ? 3 Likes 1 Share |

KingEbukaNaija: Atheism is not the lack of belief in God. Atheism is the belief that God doesn't exist. There's a difference. Meanwhile, the OP is basically saying that continuously living in Nigeria is a necessary fertilizer for theism. I agree. Even NEPA alone encourages a belief in one religion or the other. 4 Likes |

KingEbukaNaija: You said atheism is a lack of belief in God. I disagreed. I said atheism is the belief that God doesn't exist. Your snippet agrees with ME. When you say atheists don't believe in God, it leaves open the possibility that atheists know God exists. Atheists don't believe that God exists. That's the reason why we don't believe in God. There are some people who feel that God f.ucked up their lives, and therefore chose to go rogue against the celestial regime. They decided not to believe in him for that reason. Those people are not atheists. They are theists gone rogue, the embodiment of madness on steroids. N.B. Note that your snippet says atheism is the lack of belief in the EXISTENCE of God or god. Its not the gods or God itself but their existence. |

KingEbukaNaija: Any theist that tag this man as a believer (a Christian) is a desperate Christian and not a friend of Jesus. Don't just try to associate people to your religion because of their high social status (aristocracy). He is an atheist just that he is trying to be a good Communist by not speaking his views about religion but better still, based on the above statements, he ain't a Christian at all (I don't care if he is an agnostic or what ever). Offline, I am also like bill that doesn't give a damn at religion even when I was still a Christian. Even now, I don't use to engage in religious conversations cuz am not just motivated to do so. I still go to church when I feel like watching a live entertainment at my custody especially when am told that a drama will be holding and that the choreographers will be presenting their ministrations. I love discussing about knowledge in general and including theology which is a branch of philosophy. Based on this my offline status, am I a real Christian or a believer?? Religion is very good at making superstitious folklores. Using human emotions to demonstrate a written poet. Their quality over-moral standard, their loving and giving nature. To be honest, the society do have their own positive side effect. I love those men that organized those principles just that the main book (the Bible) needs a lot of editing to fit into an effective use in this 21st century. 1 Like
