ezagu in Enugu :iku aka Na uzo is with jar of palm wine, then u can do 1st 2nd and 3rd visit together comprising few crates of drink for umunna(and ur in law family which they can waive for u saying ur cannot finish marriage rite of a woman cos its continuous) soft drink soap and carbin bskt for umuada and kids ,cigarette for youths, snuff and kola for elders.then u provide food stuff your in laws will cook to entertain u and ur elders when u come for presentation. traditional marriage is at owners risk highest bride price I ever witnessed was N500 on one of my sisters cos she has masters(but elders go drag you with price wella so u will know their daughter ain't cheap then remove the smallest denomination in the money u brought and give u d rest. I have even witness one where the guy borought 15k (1k denomination) and was asked to go look for change,Lol,arlast they collected N50. last last 100k or less will see u tru with ur in laws 3 Likes |

MChaze25: Sounds like a decent girl. Maybe she ballooned up the bride price so you won't think she comes cheap. Or she mixed up the gift list with the traditional bride price. You should give her a chance and do it the right way with the family if you're both still interested. 1 Like |

PrecisionFx: Bros, I'm saying this with all due respect. This thread was supposed to be harmless, where intending grooms seek useful info and advice. But your acerbic comments is steering it towards a free-for-all insult fest. I've been monitoring your comments. Your very first comments were laced with insults. Please tone it down. If you don't agree with an opinion, respectfully disagree with facts. No need to insult someone you've never met or whose personality or lifestyle is a mystery to you. You're most likely not going to be present at the wedding of most people here, so no need for crude remarks . It's bad enough that our politics section has been taken over by tribalists and intolerant people. Let's try not to make that be the case here. Thanks bros 10 Likes 1 Share |

Well let me help out by saying this..each state is peculiar n den even in d state villages have dia own different ways of doing things.. Am from Enugu state n I can say authoritatively that even in d state it varies from village to village..my place for example, my cousin got married n d bride price was 11k..wen it was collected dey took out just 1k and gave d Husband's pple 10 back saying he shud use it to take care of our daughter, Dats to say it was just one thousand that was collected n wat he was asked to bring was not much at all..he dint even spend up to 40k..if he now wants to do a major party dats his business. So like I said it varies from state to state n village to village n also family to family. So just pray u get a good family and pple dat r reasonable to deal with and considerate.. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Good day people and God bless the OP for this thread. I'm currently in a relationship with a lady from Orlu in Imo state. She has told me she won't want to spend more than three months wearing a proposal ring before getting married that's why I haven't proposed yet. I have some money but you can never tell how much to spend when it comes to marriage. I am Yoruba by the way. What is important is the love I have for her and the love she feels for me. I would appreciate useful contributions. Please I beg you in the name of God, no unfriendly remarks please. Thank you. God bless you. 2 Likes 1 Share |

smoothfrancis: The bolded makes sense. That's why we say the elders are (and the ancestors were) wise. P.S. Now I see the lists in a totally new way. The next female that gets married in my family, I will include on the list to the groom's family, one Mercedes Benz. And two cows specifically from President Buhari's Daura herd. isalegan2:Thank you brother. God bless you. I have spoken with her mother and she was excited when speaking with me. She has asked her father if she could bring a non-igbo home and he said yes. All her siblings have spoken with me at one time or the other but I havent called her father before. I feel I shouldn't do that yet until I am fully ready. God bless you once again sir. 2 Likes 1 Share |

This is my introduction list from ogwashiukwu delta state. The introduction list varies from family to family. Mine was about 42k. Their traditional marriage list and bride price list are all in one page as I was told. Have seen an older copy of their list. Its not up to 200k. The introduction is slated for tomorrow. Am the groom.
