Monzavous Rae Edwards is an American-Nigerian athlete who wants to represent his father's land at the Olympics. The sprinter had readied everything up to attend the games at Rio, Brazil - including getting a tattoo of the Olympic logo on his arm and describing himself as an "Olympian" on his social profiles - but got the shock of his life when he discovered that his name was not submitted to 2016 Olympic officials by Nigeria Ministry Of Sports' Olympic Committee.

Edwards represented Nigeria at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and The African Championship, winning a bronze medal at the second event. He began his career after winning 200m and 100m races at the USA Junior and Junior College (JUCO) Championships in 2000.
