1.You either build five mega refineries, which take up to three years to build.

2.You subsidize fuel....and right now, we do not have the cash to do that thanks to the drop in oil prices.

Joke or not, you Nigerians want to pay less for fuel.

And lets be serious.....fuel prices are going to go up so long as we have to import most of our local refined fuel needs. And even if all our refineries were working properly, we still need to import at least 20-30millon liters of fuel a day to meet up with demand.

And it is going to become more difficult to get dollars to import the fuel because we are not earning enough cash to do so. Crude prices are falling, and they will never go up again.

The only way forward is more refineries. Which take time to build.

Sorry, but the mess has been with us for a long time. We just used high oil prices to ignore it.Now...the age of ignorance is over.

With the number of refineries in the USA, they still import ..... No matter how they remove the subsidy, the government has opened Pandora' s box because now that the price is debatable, the marketers will have a field day with the government because they can tag the fuel price at anything they want... They have the government by the balls... The government should have just fixed enough refineries before embarking on total removal of the subsidy...

These so called reforms are causing a lot of economic deformity... The economy is in a coma... And we r still muse about it till we get sent to the stone ages...

Here is the scary thing...

Even if the government fixed all the refineries, and they all worked to full capacity....we STILL have to import 20-30million(one expert I heard on the radio a few months ago put it at 50 million ) liters of refined crude daily to meet our local needs.

We need more refineries. That is the solution.

As for government removing subsidy...that should have been done ages ago, and we are removing it now because there is no extra money to pay for the subsidy. And because it made smuggling easier.

Actually, Jonathan blessed us well, by building three green field refineries on paper.

And by using high oil revenues to keep on importing, and keep on subsidizing.....wasting dollars we should have saved....

You aren't seeing from the right perspective bro. What this pricincrease is telling us is to look for an alternative source of power. Simple and short.

Back to topic.

I haven't queued for fuel since his new price increase. There's fuel everywhere though my a.c. don spoil for now.

I think the marketers aren't making as much as they used to despite the increase in cost of dollars.

They are feeling the heat like everyone else and need to cash out and the only way is to increase fuel. A prediction of #200/lt was made today for September,

If that happens and we we dig the wall instead of fighting back then let's enjoy the change.
