Last week, I posted the list of banks and companies who retrenched some of their workers. On the other report which I also published on my timeline showed that an approximate of 1.5 million people have lost their jobs this year alone, with an approximate of 22.45 million people unemployed in Nigeria.
According to the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) in their latest report, a total number of 800 companies have shut down in the past three years. Evidence also abound that a huge number of workers especially civil servants have not been paid for some months now.
This boils down to one gist, there is nothing like job security again in this part of the world. Just like we cry and empathise with those who lost their jobs in what I describe as "sack inferno" nobody knows who or which company will be affected next. While the hope of job for the unemployed whose number increase in geometric progression as many troop out school annually is very slim.
Now, my questions are: how long shall you continue to hold on to one job alone as a means of survival? For how long shall you continue to wait for that dream job? Why don't you create an alternative source of income that can act as a supplement to your present job? What do you stand to lose if you create a reliable passive income for yourself and be assured of a secured future?
