get more live news at davesblog.over-blog.com. – Various groups continue to spring up with calls for the Nigerian government to restructure the country – The CDHR has added a voice to the call warning President Muhammadu Buhari to help Nigeria avoid war The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ebonyi state has warned President Muhammadu Buhari to avoid a situation where the country is plunged into war. Members of CDHR in one of their rallies The group, which monitors human rights issues in Nigeria, said the various challenges and agitations in the country should make the president favour the call for restructuring. The presidency had vehemently kicked against the call from different segments of the Nigerian society that the country should be restructured. Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president, had recently said restructuring was not the solution to these challenges. He believes what matters is true governance. But Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, and other groups in the country do not believe this. The Niger Delta Avengers, the Indigenous People of Biafra and such other organisations are all fighting for either restructuring or full secession from Nigeria. CDHR said obedience to the calls for restructuring is the major solution to insecurity in the country. Daily Times reports that the group made the call at a one-day seminar and swearing-in ceremony of new executives of the CDHR in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state. It argued, in a lecture delivered by its state chairman, Reverend Frather John Odeye, that the six geopolitical zones of the country would be strengthened with restructuring. On his part, another lecturer, Jerry Chikwuokoro, accused the current administration of aiding corruption. He said one of the ways the administration has aided corruption was through ignoring the constitution in his appointments. Apart from this, he said the administration was arresting and prosecuting particular groups of people and allowing the Fulani herdsmen to continue killing innocent citizens without any concrete solution.
