Zambian President Edgar Lungu has been re-elected. The electoral commission announced that he had got 50.3% of the Vote,avoiding a run-off against his close challenger Hakainde Hichilema,who obtained 47.7%.

Meanwhile,Hichilema has kicked against election results,calling it a coup on democracy. "He said that the election did not meet the minimum requirement of a free and fair election.

He accused Lungu of colluding with the commission to go ahead with the announcement of the results despite widespread anomalies.


Former Nigeria president,Goodluck Jonathan is in Zambia to monitor the election.
