Help Please, Is Nigeria This Bad?

I seriously can't explain this. My Nigerian passport expired and I applied for reissue at the Nigerian Immigration Service in Lagos. On application the officers told me it will take 3 to 7 working days to be ready. I couldn't believe now that close to 2 months I'm yet to collect this passport. Anytime I go to the immigration office, they will just tell me that it is not yet ready, that I should continue trying my luck by checking often.
Please, what do I do? I need to travel with my passport.
I made the requested payment of N28,000.
I am really stranded here.

I have a few questions, did you pay through someone or you paid at the office directly and got a receipt? Who told you the passport isn't ready, your agent or the office directly?

To answer your question, Nigeria is that bad and is even worse than you think. I applied for National ID card in October 2014. Up till now, it is not yet ready. They keep saying I should check one useless website, which, in my opinion, has been programmed to say it's not yet ready.

Strange I must say. It's not supposed to take this long. Chances are, you gave the wrong guy your money and he ate it. When next you get there, speak to a higher officer. You can even get it that same day.

Simple something just bribe their ass.

The last time I did applied for a Passport at that office I got it in one day ..I am sure you are not playing ball or you gave Ur money to a fraud

There are people who got their passport the same day while you are here lamenting. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish.
