Are they going crazy for the position to make PDP/Nigeria great again or are they just after a position that will enable them determine who gets to steal when in power? |

What are they talking about. Is the UK Labour party not split into two. Are the two factions not in court over who votes in the upcoming race to select the party leader. Abeg wetin be the difference if not for judicial immaturity cause by decades of military rule. In the US was the Democratic party not split between the Sanders camps and the Clinton's camp, calling each other names before sense prevailed. What about the Republicans where three-quarters of their core leadership boycotted the convention and many considering not voting at all. It happens everywhere. Where was the APC two and a half years before the elections they won. Buhari was not even in the race, so it doesn't matter the status of the PDP now, next year or the year after. They will present a candidate at 2019 for the sake of democracy and Nigerians will consider their candidate in competition with whoever the APC fields. It is the system that matters and there must be strong competition to provide a genuine leader of this country. There will be no coronation. We have seen what all the years of a one party state under the PDP has caused the country. We will be crazy to repeat it under the APC or any other party. The benefits of democracy lies in fair competition and it is in everyone's interest that a president is elected after the rigours of strong competition. Then he or she will not take the people for granted and work with a political gun to his head, not in a cavalier or dictatorial manner. The reason why this government is slow in many cases is that it has no opposing institution of similar configuration to it. Individuals can oppose but only so much. They can be arrested, blackmailed and harrangued. You cannot arrest a party so we need alternate political parties. It may not be a desire but it is a necessity. |
