Snakes are wonderful creatures. On the one hand, they are beautiful and
mysterious; on the other hand, they are insidious and dangerous. They
excite people for centuries, but it’s better to know some of them from afar.

1. Rattlesnake
Rattlesnake is a venomous snake of the genera Crotalus. The name comes
from threatening predators with the loud shaking of the titular noisemaker
(“rattle”) at the end of its tail. It attacks in a tenth of a second. Rattlesnakes
are native to Southeast Asia and America.

2. Black Mamba
Black mamba is a venomous snake that is popular in Africa. It has got such
name because of the black mouth interior. It can move at a speed of 25
kmph and bite its target in a flash.

3. Blue Krait
Blue Krait is a species of venomous snake of the genus Bungarus. It can be
found in the jungles of the Indian subcontinent, South of China and Burma.
Blue Krait prefers to stay in the water and stick to nocturnal life. This snake
is quite shy and has an unusual habit of covering its head by the tail.

4. Tiger Snake
Tiger snake can be met in Southeast Australia, Tasmania and New Guinea. It
lives in forests, meadows, pastures and deserts. The venom of this snake
can cause paralyzes in human.

5. Inland Taipan
This dangerous snake also inhabits in Australia. Its venom can kill up to 100
people at one go.

6. Eastern Brown Snake
One more Australian inhabitant. This one is responsible for the huge amount
of human lives. It is the second in the contest of the most dangerous
snakes in the world.

7. European Viper
This snake can be met in Europe and Asia. The adult can be up to 60
centimeters in length. All the stories about vipers thick as a hand are fiction.
Its bite is not fatal, but toxic.

8. King Cobra
This snake is considered to be one of the most venomous in the world. One
portion of venom can kill 20 people or an elephant! It lives in the forests of
India and South China.

9. Philippines Cobra
This reptile can spit venom to a length of 3 meters. The venom can kill a
person in 30 minutes. As the name implies, it mostly inhabits northern
islands of Philippine archipelago: Luzon, Mindoro, Catanduanes and
Masbate.

10. Saw-scaled Vipers or Echis
Echis is a genus of venomous vipers found in many regions of India,
Pakistan, and Africa. They are relatively small snakes, usually no longer than
90 centimeters. But their venom can cause terrible headaches and slowly kill
in a 2 week period.
