The PDP members in NASS need to scuttle this bill "undemocratic bill" as it has a lot of snares embedded in it. It will effectively render NASS USELESS.. If he wants to sell assets, he has the power to follow due process, if he wants to release UBEC funds all he needs to do is to send an amendment to NASS on the extant laws. The procurement process was established to avoid NEPOTISM, SELLING OFF NATIONAL ASSETS TO SELF AND CRONIES, CORRUPTION, ETC.
We are in a democracy and we MUST practice it the way it is done everywhere else. You cannot come to the field of play and ask the referee to change the size of the field to suit your capacity. If he was not ready, he should throw in the towel. Being president is not by force.

can we just move away from this issue of 'late appointment ' of ministers and proffer solutions on how to get out of this economic gridlock?

Buhari needs such power due to exigencies of time.

NASS should promptly deny this request. As it stands now the FG wields too much power that needs to be devolved.

Buhari should not be asking for more!

Nigeria needs to be restructured to enable an effective and efficient local government. Governance should not be so far from the people. Development is a collective process and not the sole responsibility of the government especially not the FG and State governments!
Use your brain and not your ass when next you are commenting, I won't blame you since your menses is smelling LOL....

Well Saraki and Dogara have not options that to approve with immediately effect or else the Presidency will have every right to blame them for not approving bill that will revive the economy. More so their cases will be re open so as to get them out and put in someone that wil be ready to support the initiative of the Presidency.

can we just move from this issue of late appointment of ministers, since it has happened already, and proffer solutions out of the problem? You people blame the past or Buhari, don't want us to even blame the last administration .

Point to one asset PDP built that's sellable right now?
The national stadium in Abuja is very sellable.

On late appointment, my guy, that is the dumbest thing a Chief executive would do in a time when the revenue of a country is in decline. Even in a healthy economy, you don't leave things to autopilot for such a long period. An economy as big as America's would collapse if they did what Buhari did. That move is unforgivable and cannot be forgotten. It is an economic crime.

The point is you might not like the man and his policies. But this particular news is a way forward. Finding a way to fast track projects is not a bad thing. Helping states with money to develop education is not a bad thing. Most of those states can't pay their salaries and you expect them to come up with their 50% of the money. How will they do that.

When Buhari is wrong, I won't support him. But I see no sense in criticizing him even when he's right. I had to read the news again before posting this. I repeat this is a step in the right direction. And it's not he's forcing it down our treat. At least the house will decide if it's worth passing or not. Have a nice week ma'am.

God bless you my brother. I hope others will see what you saw

EMERGENCY POWERS TO SUSPEND PROCUREMENT LAWS?

Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

Finally, APC have found a way to LOOT Nigeria assets.

It's now LOOTING to the ground from now on.

Congratulations for the 'change' Nigerians.

This was their target all along.

You seem to be living in Mars. This govt has been borrowing to pay salary since they came in.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/fg-borrowing-pay-n165bn-civil-service-salaries-adeosun/
That's because a huge part of the budget was used to finance capital projects that can in turn trickle down to employement opportunities. Iweala was borrowing N473b as against the less than N200b you quoted.

So this is Buhari game plan. No wonder he and his cohorts want their stooges at the National Assembly so as to get an easy passage of his dictatorial policies.

Buhari, pls come back to your senses. This is democracy and not Khakistocracy.

The presidency wields so much power and giving them more sweeping powers to set aside some extant laws and use executive orders is a suicide mission. This is Africa where the popular saying that "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" is in full force. The presidency must follow our extant laws in all their dealings and if they can't do that, they should step aside for those who can to take over.

Let them just manage that Buhari till 2019 and kick him the hell out. Nothing more should be added to what he presently doesn't merit. He's a danger to this country

PS. Did you people know that Nairaland ogas are very active in censorship. There's a way I spelt the president's name and it turned out not to show up that way. Imagine if Seun and his underlings get into political posts where they can censor the whole country's right to free speech. Everybody is a joke in Nigeria

To rescue the economy after 16 years of PDP plundering of over 38 Trillion Naira, shamelessly shut down the refineries in order to import fuel, sabotaged the power sector in order to sell diesel and generators, thereby poluting Nigerians health, awarding contracts and sharing the money without doing the contracts, ...the list in endless.
You mean PDP still managing the economy after 13 months.

Buhari can't work in a civilian rule. He need degree, so national assembly should give him power to do all those things mentioned up there before he can perform well.
Why did he contest election when he knows he can't work well in a democratic government.

Oya National assembly over to you, Please give Buhari power to do and undo anything without passing through you or due process, so that we will not die of hunger.

We still have a very long way to go.
U guys really have multiple problems...Before u complained of his dictatorship tendency, not he weakly subject his economic policies to due process It's disgusting that you ppl haven't deemed it fit to move on after one year..

I do NOT agree. People have a right to determine their own fate and look after their own well-being, i cannot understand why someone in Abakaliki would have to start appealing to Abuja for empowerment etc.... It is not right! Abuja must be devolved of a lot of powers holding this great country down!

How anybody can trust this man with his autocartic, nepotistic history with such powers is something i will never understand.
Granting such powers is not even the problem, he does not even the required IQ to use it well.
This is the tragedy of Nigeria. How the igbo nation of over 30 million productive people got tettered to this mad man, his crazy supporters and his country is just sad.
Surely, We can do much better than this on our own.
