Airtropolis, a construction company owned by Sen. Stella Odua, former Aviation Minister under President Goodluck Jonathan who was sacked for purchasing 200 million Naira official car when the nation is undergoing economic recession has secured a cargo airport construction in Benue State, under governor Samuel Ortom.
Airtropolis was the company given the mandate to contruct cargo aiport in Lafia, Nasarawa State two years ago but up till date could not so more than grading of site, a situation Nasarawa State is lamenting and themed fraud.
It is a known fact that, Stella Odua during her tenure as the Aviation Minister, proposed consruction of cargo Airports across the six geo- political zones of the country. As the major shareholder in Airtropolis, Odua has resurfaced in Benue to perform thesame fraud that was mated on Nasarawa, a neighboring State to Benue.
However, the State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom was not present at the event which seems like mortgaging the future of the State to the former Aviation Minister in a ceremony that suggest handing over of the proposed site of the Airport to Airtropolis .
Assessing the capacity of the said company, some Benue indegens have come out to say the Cargo Airport is not even necessary because the said company will only get some money from the poor state and go away as in the case of Nasarawa State. Bede Bartholomew who took to Facebook insisted that,...
"Why don't they bring in investors who'll sponsor more viable and people friendly projects, please go and tell people who don't know, this cock and bull stories.
He emphasied that since the land was acquired for free, there are other hidden committment that must come from the State.
