can i use 0w-40 instead of 5w30?

Though the grade on the car Engine I 5w20 but I hardly see that which was why I started using the "mobil1 5W30" a many pple said it can b used as well. However, as we speak, getting the "mobil 1 5w30" itself is now becoming difficult as I only get to see "mobil 1 0w-40" and the attendant said it can be used to replaced the mobil 1 5w30 , mobil is about stopping the it's production for Nigeria market...

What is recommended by your manufacturer for best performance and maintance is 5w20 and not necessarily that that it should always be Mobil 1 ,Mobil is just a brand out of hundred of good brand that exist .Look for other reputable brand producer of 5W20 or 5w30 .

I think I have already answered your question earlier ,your manufacture recommendation is 5w20 which means 5w20 is the best for your car not 0w40 so go for it.

Since you have been using 5w30 grade, I will advise you to stick to it as it is very much available.

1. 5w20 lower fuel consumption, 5w30 higher fuel consumption, 0w40 even more fuel consumption (your MPG will deviate significantly from factory specs because 0w40 is way way heavier than 5w20)

2. Hardly see? Where have you been looking? in which city are you resident?

Lots of good oils apart from Mobil1, not saying Mobil1 isn't good, but there are manufacturers at par with them, even if they spend less on advertising or spend on advertising in markets outside of Africa
