Regarding venue, are we looking at island or mainland? I personally think the mainland is safer than the island. But that's just me.

@Icon
This is something you will have to ask in your mail so we can know what people are more comfortable with.

@Salsera
Personally i favour saturday over sunday because no one knows how late the event will last, and we don't want the spectre of "Monday" pressuring us to round up. I also favour the second weekend in July to allow us more time to get the word out as well as properly organize this thing.

off the top of my head, i would suggest La Cachette in GRA Ikeja. But i'm sure there are other "decently reasonable" and reasonably decent places we could use. There's also a pretty good space within the Isaac John Sweet Sensation which i think would also be good, plus food and drinks would be much cheaper there than at La Cachette. People, suggestions please.

Hey, LawyerChap, I've sent out a mail to all interested participants. Please confirm if you received it. I like the idea of La Cachette, i think it's a good place. Let's discuss more via mail.
@ Other intersted participants who didn't receive the mail, kindly drop your email address and you'll be added to the list ASAP.

@lawyerchap

'reasonably decent?'

touche cool

back to topic
saturday is cool but I considered sundays becos most saturdays can be really busy, weddings, traffic etc
2nd week in July alright by me

La cachette, mmmm sounds interesting . A guy who has been 'toasting' me for awhile mentioned the joint last time we spoke

Ok La cachette is alrit with moi

Hasta luego

@Salsera
seems i've got mischief running in my veins and for you to have picked up on that, i suspect you do too. wink grin grin kiss

Back to topic:
La Cachette is a full-scale club as well as hangout. So it is really expensive. Drinks are like 600bucks there. Food is from 900 bucks per plate. While i can speak for myself and say i can comfortably afford it, i cannot say the same for others as i do not know what their means are like. I like La Cachette, but is it the best choice of venue given the cost? What do you think of Sweet Sensation at Isaac John? They've got a dedicated space for these sort of events and they can easily handle catering at a much more bearable cost. plus there's parking space. I don't know, just kicking stuff out.

Lol @ salsera, you've got a nice sense of humour.

@ all concerned - nairaland WAI reunionees, i guess sweet sensation's a great idea, considering the fact that it should be affordable for all, you know, not everyone might be a worker. . . .
More ideas should come up though. lawyerchap, don't you think 50 peeps are 'too much'?

It would be nice if you would be there, but if not, no probs.
Re: West African Idols: Season 1 (2007) by lawyerchap(m): 8:17am On Jun 24, 2007
@all
Over 500 people participated on this thread though they weren't all Nigerians. The list of IDs i posted is by no means exhaustive. It was just those who were really prominent. And 50 people is not too much if we are to have the feeling of a real community. Though i think a more realistic figure would be around 30. However it happens sha, it should be fun.

pardon me as i borrow FG words, is there a political agenda here grin

Wow if we could get even 30 people together , the next WAI would need OUR inputs

I was thinking along those lines too , I think we might be able to get 10-20 though.
Re: West African Idols: Season 1 (2007) by lawyerchap(m): 9:22pm On Jun 24, 2007
people, there's no political agenda. Thirty is not such a large number, really. Imagine if we had raised this idea before the Idols Finale. We would have had over 100 people interested. Its just that most people no longer visit this thread since WAI ended.

Anyways, i went to check out the proposed venues and i've got some news which i will send to Icon via mail for onward transmission to all. Please lets get the word out.
