How ODSG lost $9bn Dangote’s Refinery

The refinery, Dangote told had said would be the largest in Africa, turning Nigeria into a petroleum exporter. The Refinery and Petrochemical Complex was initial planned to be sited in Ogun and Ondo

Dangote Group had signed $5.55bn loan deals with financiers on October 2013 for the building of a $9bn refinery and petrochemical complex to be located at the Olokola Free Trade Zone, Ondo State.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote initially had initially settled for Ondo State because of the relative peace in the state compared to other Oil producing states, but the Olokola and Igbakoda communities were said to be very unreasonable in their demands.

If Dangote had agreed to the demands from the communities, he might have to spend about fifty percent of the projected cost of the refinery on community relations it was gathered. Since, it is not government agency, Dangote was said to have decided to move the project to a more business friendly environment.

The Trace Magazine gathered authoritative from source who was involved with the development of the refinery in Ondo State informed that the state lost the project to Lagos State Government carelessly.

The way this man is moving we might just sell the country to him soon.

CNN Breaking News: Alhaji Aliko Dangote just bought a country formally called Nigeria and renamed it to Dangoteria, the sale was for a whooping sum of $10billion.

We have 10,000MW installed capacity and our target is to attain 20,000MW by 2020

With Dangote's 12,000MW, it means we are going to attain that target even before 2020..

Talk I'd cheap.

Enelamah said, “The key is to create the right incentive, regulation and policy so that people can work with them and do more locally than just importing. The other thing I should mention is that Nigeria has an industrial revolution plan developed by the last government, but the plan needs to be revisited.

“We need to look beyond the rhetorics and actually implement what we are talking about, because I believe that if we implement them, we will get better result.”

.....thinking the definition of cluelessness again.

Business goals like that of Dangote's is so intense but he makes it look so easy.

He said, “This is the right moment to pursue the diversification of the economy, which we have been talking about. I know that once oil gets back to $80 per barrel, we will go back to the same misbehaviour.

Main point which should be our fear

One good thing about Dangotes project is that his pipes are buried in sea beds where Niger Delta guns and bombs will not reach.

hehe why won't dangote do that, when the govt is giving him undue advantage over the test. A That way he controls all the sectors, and becomes the instrument for continous northern domination. What they couldn't achieve with the civil service, they wanna use a monopoly to attain. But I love capitalism, you cant cheat foe too long.

I must say contrary to how people look down on the north as uneducated, one thing I give them is their ability to strategize and make strong political moves. If a southern president made the same move ie give undue advantage to a company like capital oil, or conoil, you'd see a combined criticism from that region. What beats me is how I see supposed educated ppl here not being able to read in btw the lines. Perhaps I'm beginning to see why northern leaders strive to maintain a ruling class and leave the rest of the populace as common beggars. so the ruling class maintains so much power and influence.

Everyone can't have an opinion, it destroys the common good. What I just stated can only be deciphered by the intelligent in depth ones. Some ediot will call me a bigot.

Watch!!!!!!

Anyone still asking the good that can come from the North?

This man is simply Nigeria's earthly messiah going by the projects and plans he has. Apart from building the largest single refinery on earth which will satisfy our entire national daily consumption and leave enough for export (thereby earning forex), he also will help the Naira recovery by simultaneously reducing our import bill and reducing scarcity of dollars.

Consider the thousands of jobs that will be created directly and indirectly and one will understand why accolades continue to follow the Mallam's brilliance.

God bless Alhaji Aliko.
True talk. I don't always see him as just an ordinary business man who is only out to make profit as I see him as a business man who like any other business man is out to make profit but still has his country at heart.
Each time I think about how much benefits his projects will have on Nigerian economy in few years to come. I just smile. I only used to think about the refinery, and rice business as his upcoming benefits, I never knew that uninterrupted power supply was also coming.
My state ( Ogun) should just be prepared to make use of the opportunity of her proximity to Lagos more.

I hope there will be a vibrant transmission system in place to take up this huge amount of power and without over 50% loss in transmission.

Presently our transmission system cannot take up 10GW .....it will collapse.

Good new anyways

God bless Nigeria and punish her enemies!!!

The man was misquoted ;what he said was that the amount of gas that will come through his pipeline will be enough to generate that amount of electricity. How can he generate electricity when he has no power plant and is not building or has plans to build one?
