Joking with her friends, Phoebe posted a photo of herself via Instagram, with her skin edited to look darker and a scarf around her head, illustrating the length she would have to go to be accepted by her ‘boyfriends’ parents.

The reports reveal that Phoebe who had been a talented gymnast, soon became worried after the photo went viral.

Speaking of Phoebe’s suicide, Detective Sergeant Katherine Tomkins said:

“She was scared of what the reaction might be from the Asian community in her area.”

Phoebe’s dad, Laurence, 53, who had come home in Halesowen, West Midlands, to find her dead after hanging herself, said:

“She was a lovely girl who would never want to cause offence to anyone.”
