EDEN HAZARD NAMES THE ‘LEAST INTELLIGENT’ FOOTBALLER HE’S PLAYED WITH


Eden Hazard has made a name for himself as the joker at Chelsea since joining in 2012.

Confident and witty, the Belgian loves mocking his teammates for their poor English accents – he burst out laughing at Michy Batshuayi’s attempts over the weekend – and mistakes at training.

It seems only fitting, then, that he participated in a challenge recently that involved naming the slowest, fastest and laziest footballers – among many others – that he has played with throughout his career.

In an interview with the Mirror at a Topps Match Attax event, Hazard gave answers for each and every category.

A particular subject of interest, though, was the ‘least intelligent’ player he has played alongside

And his answer? None other than Diego Costa.

He said: “This is a difficult one to choose… The least intelligent is Diego Costa.”

It took a while for Hazard to work out his reply, but considering how his Spanish teammate behaves on the football pitch, it’s perhaps understandable why he picked him.



Let’s just hope Costa – who was also named the ‘loudest’ – sees the funny side of it.

Elsewhere, Hazard named Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku as the ‘fastest’, John Terry and Cesc Fabregas as joint ‘slowest’, Cesar Azpilicueta as the ‘hardest worker in training’ and himself as the ‘most skilful’ (obviously).

Away from Hazard embarrassing his teammates, the 25-year-old believes Chelsea have found the winning formula under Antonio Conte.

The Blues have won their opening two Premier League games thanks to late Costa winners but under their Italian manager, they seem a different animal.

Hazard said: “The attitude is fantastic, even in training everyone wants to win games. That’s why now we are winning.

“It’s just the start of the season but if we want to stay at the top we have to win. Both Manchester teams won, we had to win and we did.”

And on the difference Conte has made, he added: “He’s a good manager, he believes in his team and we try to give everything for him.



“We want to win for the fans too.



“It’s early. We have a good team, there are a lot of good teams in the Premier League and we will see at the end, but of course we want to be the champions
