Tell them you will not use the ATM
Immediately withdraw all your money if thex insist
Make a scene while doing all this
Or forever hold your peace

...i hav a 'strategic' savings acct with first bank which i only deposit & neva used d ATM, but towards Dec/jan, they sent me 6 diff txt covering 6months ATM maintenance charges of abt N50 each, despite their monthly withdrawal. So, i just wnt there & withdrew all my cash leaving only 1k, & now my bal is less than N850...

They have every right to stop you from checking account balance in the banking hall. You are not the only customer they have to attend to.

Banks have technologies that make it very easy to transact at the comfort of your home. Ever heard of mobile banking app? Internet banking product? Even your sms alert reveals your balance. So why go to the banking hall to distract the ever busy bank staff with your unnecessary demand?

This is 2016 not 1976.

mr man they did d right tin. Why shud u come to d bank waste d Customer care staff with account balance. They have oda important tins to do na. Use d atm or ur phone to chk balance na.

Lol ...I understand you clear. Especially UBA ....they have a cunning way of doing things. I remember back then when they started penalizing people for over withdrawal per month. My fear now though is that they banks will start charging COT on savings account once you deposit a check as is now allowed by CBN
