Goel:I think more population doesnt necessarily mean more consumption.Small European nations beat giant nations in consumption. The right question therefore is once you become rich by having less $ less kids how do you raise and sustain high income in a country while competing with poor low income countries. And the answer is transitioning the country into high tech high paying jobs that can sustain consumption.A poor man may drink 50 litres of milk a year..while richer man will consume may 500 litres...that huge consumption scope per capita before you even transition to luxury consumption.Kazikazi need real life example..TZ family has 6 kids and kenya family 2 kids...TZ family for most part of first 20yrs will survive entirely on labour of both parents will remain mostly poor, malnourished and with zero investments or savings. They may consume more but end up with zero savings or investment to break out of cyclic poverty. They are producing $ consuming more but growing poorer .Smaller kenya family will initially produce $ consume less but will be able to feed $ educate their children better and have some savings $ investments..eventually they may afford a tractor or better farm inputs...leading to greater wealth in short span. The better feed and educated kids will get high paying jobs. The large family kids will mostly end up unable to complete school. This is what generally happen at micro level and translate to country level. 6 Likes |

You better use it now before the world switch from dirty fuel (read oil+coal) into green renewable energy (read solar+wind+hydro) pretty soon. Even US of A is trying to exhaust their oil before the switch off date. By 2030-2040 oil will be on it's way out like steam went out last century. Most developed countries will definitely ban petrol & diesel powered vehicles by 2030. It won't make any sense to use polluting oil when there is clean electric engines. forgiveness: 1 Like |

rvp2018:Who asked you those? Even an illiterate dude knows the bigger the family the harder it gets to sustain.Who doesn't know simple things like having 2 kids is much easier to maintain than having more kids? Who doesn't know by having fewer kids a nation can b easily become a middle income? Who doesn't know that?? How can you waste time explaining a thing which everybody knows?? Pwopwopwopwo... We are talking about population shrinkage! Shrinking economies, the effects of shrinking population on ecomies! |

Goel:That will work better if there is a minimal shrinkages! In the issue of continuous shrinkages like what is projected in Japan,it will be impossible to substitute it with anything.Japan's population is projected to shrink to 85 millions in the year 2050 from the current of 124m. By 2800 it will go down to only 2 millions people.Definitely buying of luxuries won't help. |

I am glad you understand that have less and less kids is the way to go. On population shrinkage - that is clearly a first world problem that is far remove from your witchraft lazy country. You need two centuries to get there...so worry about your population doubling to 120M when you cannot do anything sophisticated beyond maize & beans - and cashewnuts. Population decline is a nice problem to have. By time you're seeing population shrinkage you're rich enough to deal with it. Kazikazi: 4 Likes |

So you want to have more kids now so you can stop population decline. You're just a typical moronic Tanzanian. Population decline then start rising again. It's not linear. Kazikazi: 1 Like |

What Japan is going through now is something anticipated in demographics,it's not a strange phenomena- that's how a normal curve should be. However, their high life expectancy and very low birth rates is actually their major pain now.I'm into the idea that the ideal life expectancy shouldn't cross the 80 mark or better still be not more than 75 years and the fertility rate should somehow equal the mortality rate. The government of Japan is under immense pressure to fund the pension of it's bigger old age populace and medical insurance among other benefits. The mitigation measure of raising the retirement age hasn't helped alot. The questions are, what is the ideal population pyramid? What is the ideal level of development and yearly economic growth that a country should show. Are developed nations going to reach a 'development ceiling' that would be detrimental to the future growth of their populace. A normal curve would be in the shape of a letter 'n'. Maintaining development at your optimum levels( the highest point in a normal curve) as a country for as long as possible seems to be a feat hard to crack! rvp20183: |

Ibrahimanis:Coz India is too late. India has opened economy only in 1993 what India should have done decades earlier. South Korea did same since start and became developed country. https://www.livemint.com/Opinion/b77y9kGTmGV0lK5RmStNLP/Will-India-turn-old-before-it-becomes-rich.html https://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2015/07/31/how-india-will-start-shrinking-after-2050/ India's fertility rate is near replacement level, population growth is close to 1% and increasing life expectancy with medical services only adds old people unable to work for country. So, we are a bit late. India was very good with social development efforts but was late for economic reforms. You can see, our population growth and poverty ratio are high of yours despite same income level. India an at its best can only become a middle income economy like Malaysia or Thailand. Not anywhere near Europe at least in this century. But yes, it will be world's only left global power after US & China decline because big population and upper middle income will make Indian Economy & military budget even bigger. India is world's last big country where there is a room for economic boom and economic boom is happening. Other countries are either way small or way developed to grow further. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_Century Only a United Africa can be bigger in next century. Kazikazi:I was actually replying to question about how to survive a population decline. No way I said that you can sustain your economy with declining population. You will fall down sooner or later. China, Japan & Russia are witnessing it, India Vietnam and Bangladesh will soon, even much before becoming rich. 2 Likes |

NairobiWalker:MY MAN, I Can see you can't believe the estate was too beautiful to be true That was PH golf estate. When you talk about landscaping and beautification, give the whole credit to ABJ You saw the pics of Uzzyke and the first class architecture, Lagos estates also have greeneries like Victoria Garden city lekki but the whole thumbs up goes to Abuja estates. The Abj masterplan says for every home or structure, you have to create room for natural aesthetics But i must say, Lagos needs to do more in landscaping, the Lagos state parks and gardens should do more. But those your Estates are reserved fot only the whites,no black kenyan there try living there except for few. Any good Nairobi Estate can only be found not too far away from CBD 1 Like 1 Share |

1) Provide proof that PH golf estate has been built. 2) Most Nairobi estates now are in Nairobi Metro - Nairobi bedroom - hosting 2M plus people - are in nearby counties roughly 30kms from CBD. 3) Most formerly residential estates in nairobi proper - are being converted to office or apartments - they are going to be very few suburbs in Nairobi - maybe only Karen. For example Greenpark here is roughly 30Kms from Nairobi CBD. samsobo24: 1 Like |

Nairobi bedroom is outside Nairobi - in it's metro - with 2M plus people commuting daily to Nairobi. 1) Migaa golf estate is nearly 40kms from Nairobi. This is not phantom like Nigeria PH.
