KenyaMan111: Nigerians associated with music and theater is disproportionately high ? Is that why your people were protesting in Kenya? It is this abysmal display of irrationality that has been the hallmark of submissions from your kind. And probably you have no idea of the contribution of entertainment to America's GDP and even Nigeria's. And you have no idea of cultural projection in International diplomacy. You talk in a bid to shame Nigeria but you got no idea how just puerile your infantile talk is. 2 Likes |

highheybee:Dude.English!!! A.You have described a Banana republic. You are no Lion. Lions do not go into recessions(Do you know Kenya has never gone into a recession?? We have had snail growth, like in the 90s during the SAPs and Moi's rule but a situation where our economy is contracting? Never!!Not even after the violence of 2007 did we go into a recession, we just had a severe drop in growth rate (1.9%)> Last I heard Nigerians pay rent yearly because your monthly salaries are not guaranteed. And this was before the strikes SMH.I am glad I was not born there. In Kenya, my money is guaranteed to be in my account every end month without fail!! And Dude,Most rich Chinese run away from China as soon as they are able to and move to Australia,Canada,Singapore ,Countires with much smaller GDPs but with a more superior quality of life so really??Nigeria has nothing to brag about. The fact that you guys face fuel shortages and you are an oil producer while Kenya has never faced the types of shortages Nigeria faces(The last fuel shortage in Kenya was 7 years ago and affected Western Kenya and it was not due to lack of fuel but due to pipeline failure.Coastal Kenya has never had a fuel shortage in its history)tells me how dysfunctional your country is!! 5 Likes |

Anybaba: Lighten up my Nigerian counterpart, no need to get vicious, I realize how tempting it is when speaking to Kenyan of great intellect, but it'll solve nothing in the end. I greatly admire the musical contribution that Nigerians and African-Americans have given us, but if your sole objective is to musically conquer other countries, then you'll forever be just a court jester for the powers. However, I am not judging, maybe you can make a livelihood out of dancing for us Kenyans when we fully modernize Kenya (: 6 Likes |

KenyaMan111: Indeed you are certainly a Kenyan intellect ! And you have to realise the dissonance and locality of such intellect . Interestingly it is your people that are dancing to our music and paying in cash. It your people that are patronising nollywood content and paying in cash. The implication is we create the intellectual content and you buy and buy and buy. Such for Kenyan intellect. 1 Like |

MDG 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger MDG 2: Achieve universal primary education MDG 3: Promote gender equality and empower women MDG 4: Reduce child mortality MDG 5: Improve maternal health MDG 6: Combat HIV and AIDS, malaria and other diseases MDG 7: Ensure environmental sustainability MDG 8: Develop a global partnership for Development. MDG is an ambitious program, good thing its time line is 1000 years. The main obstacle to MDG is actually the current political structure. Nigeria is only as Federal as Federal Express. Although we implemented devolution after independence, the powers that be seem reluctant to allow all 36 states of the Fed have their own constitutions, if each state gets its own constitution, they don't have to wait on the Federal govt allocation, they can invest, mine their resources and make the country even bigger. Nigeria is a lot more complex than you think. Also, Nigerians pay rent yearly because we practise frugal economics, nobody likes it when a landlord or caretaker starts banging on your door every 4 weeks, only makes sense to pay rent annually, I believe advanced countries also practice this. And the Nigerians who visit Kenya and come back to start saying Kenya is better are what you would call suffer head in Nigeria. If I was born and raised somewhere in Ikoyi's upper class areas and I went to stay in Kenya for a month, I thik I'd find Nigeria much better. Nigeria's middle class would be considered upper class in Kenya, yes I said it again. Hate it or love it, its the just the truth. 2 Likes |

highheybee:Nigeria is not too big and complicated to govern effectively. What u Nigerians need to admit is that your country wasnt blessed with good leaders who could steer that country to high economic and development limits. Almost all of them were only interested in looting the country, they did not bother to deliver good social services to the people. And why did they need to care? They did not gain power thru popular vote, but thru the barrel of the gun. And they were very certain that they were not going to stay for long before they themselves were dislodged from power or even killed. So, they had to steal as much as possible. Nigeria is not a very big country, do not lie to yourselves thus. How is the US doing it. How about Russia, China, Indonesia.........these terribly huge societies, how are they getting it right, but not even the tiny countries of Africa, even with a relatively small population of just 24m. Watch Angola and Sudan (north)! They are not very progressed countries, despite their massive wealth. Therefore, brethren, the size of your population shouldnt be an excuse for the dysfunction in the Nigerian society and economy. It narrows down instead to your past history of poor leadership. U havent quite recovered from that, but slowly, u are getting out of the mess. It cannot happen overnight. WE Kenyans here are not in anyway suggesting that ours is a perfect country. We too are suffering from pretty much similar problems as Nigeria. Corruption, tribalism, insecurity, widespread poverty.. etc Too many economists have suggested that were it not for the rampant corruption, tribalism and insecurity, ours would have indeed been one of the most developed countries in Africa.....on a per with S.Korea or Malasia. By now, we should have had an economy with a GDP well over $150bn. But see, we also messed up big time. Africa is such a mess! 7 Likes |

Even if it is true that u generate 5000 as u claim, for a populatio nearly 5times the population of Kenya....that is very small. After the NDA did this, this happened... Godgay:If whoever taught u economics was not high on dope, then by now u would have known that the GDP and the GDP per capita is not a very very precise way to determine the health of a country's economy and its society. Most economists and the other social scietists have strongly rejected that method. That is why other methods have been adopted, such as the Human Development Index and poverty rates. Now compare both Kenya and Nigeria standing on those aspects and tell me. FYI, Kenya has much higher literacy rates than Nigeria. |

ritababe:Bonny power is supplied by the foreign owned organizations, not the by the govt. And our ports, we are building them thru the loans that we borrowed from these countries and will be obliged to pay in the future. That shows that indeed our economy is quite healthy, if these foreign banks can agree to lend us the money, it shows that they regard us as creditworthy. |

First of all, you cannot rely on these stats for your argument. Not everyone in those professions receive that exact amount, earnings vary with regards to experience and other factors. Second, my premise is based on the fact that Nigeria's elite DO NOT live in Kenya the way South Sudanese, Somali upper class do. Nairobi is not appealing to their taste but it does appeal to the taste of our middle class who happen to be able to afford apartments in South B, Dunholm, Buru-buru and South C to say the least. naijalander:I know that! People in those professions earn more or less than the figures quoted there, due to varying factors. Then again, statistics dont have to be absolutely precise in order to present the fact on the ground. Thus the term "average" has been used. Are not there Nigerians in Runda, Lavington, Kileleshwa etc? Dont lie, u guys love our country, and u yourself have admitted that. And by the way, those suburbs u have mentioned above are waay more swanky than anything Lagos has to offer. naijalander:Rafiki, The MDGs were a pact signed in 1990 by 189.countries. They are TIME BOUND. I hope you have eaten book wella , and heard of SMART analysis. Never in the history of planning have i ever heard of development plans for basic indicators lasting 1000 years. Never. Nations set short, medium and long term plans in 5,10 or15 , and 25+ years time frames. The time frame for the MDGs was 2015. All in all if i remember my development goals well, there were 8 goals, 21 targets and 60 indicators to be met. That, rafiki, is a loooooong list. Worthy of a robust discussion, but only between the right personnel. And now my question : How has Nigeria performed in meeting the MDGs? PS: Don't answer if you don't know, please. here's all the MDGs in detail( https://www.unicef.org/statistics/index_24304.html ) 1 Like |
