*Size of the country-Larger countries will usually have more roads in km than smalller countries due to their expansive geographical size.

*Population-A high population density may mean more cities and towns in a country thus leading to more roads needed to connect populations to each other

*Alternative means of transport-Some countries may prioritise one form/means of transport over the other.Some countries prioritise rail over road

*Economy-Richer countries are more likely to have more roads in Km than their poorer counterparts.


Having more paved roads won't automatically mean better or best road infrastructure!
