Mystery of Kenyan stowaway who fell from plane deepens grin grin grin
By Amina Wako November
The mystery surrounding the identity of the stowaway who fell from a Kenya Airways plane as it approached London has deepened days after Sky News exclusively reported about his identity.
But who is the real Stowaway?
The investigative story by Sky News revealed the name of the Stowaway as Paul Manyasi, a 29-year-old and a cleaner at Colnet Limited Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. That’s where the Boeing 787 took off for Heathrow Airport.
Both Colnet Limited Kenya and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) have since denounced reports that the man identified worked at the airport.
Here in Kenya, journalist John Sparks spoke to the family of Manyasi at their mud-walled house in Makhwabuye village in Malava constituency, Kakamega county.
The father had early identified his son as Paul Manyasi through a photo shared by Sparks. He even identified a small black bag, a pair of sports shoes and underwear as belonging to his son. His belongings were released by London’s metropolitan Police.
A day after the story was aired, the parents changed their narratives and denied Manyasi as their son and said their son’s name is Cedric Shivonje.
Where is Cedric Shivonje?
When asked about Cedric, the parents said their son was at Industrial Area Remand Prison after being arrested in July.
Nairobi News has establish that there is no inmate by that name at the prison.
So maybe he was booked in with a different name. But how hard is it for the authorities at the prison to find Cedric after his pictures went viral?
The father has also said he has not been into contact with his son Cedric since 2017 and his phone has been off.
So how did he know his son was arrest in June and is in prison?
Why is KAA denying Manyasi worked for Colnet?
KAA and Colnet Limited Kenya, the company for which Manyasi was allegedly working for, earlier on Wednesday dismissed the Sky News investigation, saying the man never worked for them.
If indeed he worked for the cleaning company, a lot will be at stake for Kenya in the air industry.

Is lying a national pastime in Ghana? Why hasn't Nigeria called for IMF bailout when they have had energy crisis lasting decades.
Just30:
we did not default in 2015

we had an energy crisis such that growth slowed down

we called the IMF because the previous government couldnt take the unslut from the opposition

Well,Vodafone/Vodacom have always been big players. The most important thing is to get there and grow ourselves at our own pace.I'd love for us to decrease Vodacom's stake a bit but keep them on,our partnership with them on Safaricom has been a healthy one so far!

Poverty drives Kenyans to rent out their wives grin grin

Poverty and unpredictable tourism industry forcing men on the east coast to send spouses into prostitution.

Kwale, Kenya - It's a cloudy Sunday morning in Kenya's Kwale county and Sande Ramadan just woke up to get ready for another weekend of work.

Wearing a green vest and khaki shorts, he washes his face and proceeds to the living room where his wife Janet Wambui serves him breakfast.

"Thanks for waking me up, I hate being late for my client," the dreadlocked father of three tells his wife. "She asked me to be with her until next weekend," he adds as he sips black tea.

Ramadan is a male sex worker.

Wambui, his tall dark-skinned wife, works in the same industry. She came back home two nights ago after spending 10 days with a German tourist in an expensive cottage house, a few kilometres from Maweni village where the couple resides.

Ramadan and Wambui have been married for 20 years now.

But it wasn't always like this. One day in 2006, Ramadan was hawking clothes to tourists along Diani Beach in Kwale town, 30km southwest of Mombasa, when a German tourist approached him. He wanted a lady to spend some time with until his holiday ended.

The 37-year-old, who speaks fluent German and teaches his wife the language, promised the man he would introduce him to his sister.

"My husband came home that evening and asked me if I can act as his sister and take up the offer. After a few days of deliberation, I agreed," says Wambui, 38, sitting near Ramadan while tightening her black turban.

Wambui saw how life changed for other women who entered prostitution. She was a housewife who depended on Ramadan's income, which was too little.

"Life was tough for us. My husband's unpredictable income was not enough and when he asked me to accept, I had no choice," she says.

The family can now afford three meals a day and the children's school fees.

From Diani Beach to Lamu to North Coast to Malindi and Watamu, the Kenyan coast is a unique holiday destination, where tourists from all over the world come to enjoy seaside life and experience some of Africa’s cultures and traditions.

But even with some of Africa’s best on display, the Kenyan coast has of late hit international headlines with disturbing stories of sex tourism. Of greater concern is the fact that many children — some as young as 13 years old — are also tied up in this unfortunate industry. grin grin

Child protection organizations and human rights defenders in this region have often registered their apprehensions over the growing number of children being trafficked and forced in to sex tourism. cheesy

These organizations argue that while a majority of tourists visit the Kenyan coast to relax and enjoy unique experiences, a significant number of them are touring the region for the sole purpose of engaging in sex with Kenyan minors. grin

Local reports say that at least 30,000 Kenyan girls, the majority of who are below the legal age of 18 years, are involved in sex tourism.

In addition, Trace Kenya Group, a local non-profit organization, estimates that there could be more than 40,000 child sex workers in Mombasa, with the trade extending to other parts of the coastal region at an unprecedented rate.

Sex Exploitation in the Name of Charity

Investigations by local media show a growing crisis on the Kenyan coast, with the culprits devising new ways of evading the long arm of justice almost on a daily basis.

It is alleged that these pedophiles, the majority of who come from Europe and America, are targeting children from poverty-stricken towns and villages in the region under the guise of giving them scholarships.

These sex tourists are said to work in cahoots with locals who run different social media platforms, where they post pictures of poor Kenyan kids looking for aid and scholarships.

It is reported that these pictures are sampled by foreign pedophiles who later travel to Kenya under the pretext of tourism to meet and have sex with the victims.

This trade is cited as one of the main factors contributing to the growing number of school dropouts in the Kenyan coastal region, with children as young as 13 years dropping out of school to work as sex workers.

This has also contributed to the spread of HIV and drug abuse among young people in the region. What’s worse is the fact that some parents are selling their children to these pedophiles for money.

Others are aware of the kind of business their young daughters and sons are involved in but don’t have a choice other than to let them continue provided they come back home with enough money to buy food and other basic items.
