I did matiang'I KCSE in 2016. I scored a strong B+ ( that is like a plain A in your Gumbaro ERA.) I scooped a whooping Aplain in MATHS, PHYSICS & BUSINESS. I joined JKUAT in June 2017 to study a course I will not disclose. I have played CHESS for this country to EAST AFRICA LEVEL! Chess is not a game for the Weak brains ( your IQ should be above average to compete in E. AFRICA) --- that's why my intellectual quotient is so unfathomable by your expired brain cells.

Indeed you're very young - there is hope for you. In our era - there was no mass cheating because there was no telephone except landlines, letters and telegram. In my course there was no B+ admitted. The Computer Science degree at UON- cut off point was aggregate of 46 points out 48. That mean you need to score As in four key subjects (48) and almost A in aggregate divided by 2 if I remember JAMB weighted formulae. There were a few A- (strong) but most folks were pure As(92-96). I recall in our year there 111 As and about 500 A- minus in the entire country - those that didnt fly abroad - generally did Medicine, Pharmacy. Computer Science and I think actuarial science was also new exciting course for most folks.Most of engineering you could get by with 42 point - except Electrical Engineering- and also Architecture was in high demand. Law was 40s but you needed to score an A in English. Medicine cut off was 47, Computer science 46. I have never gotten A- minus in my life except in English and Kiswahili. I dont read that much - because I have an almost photographic long term memory - but I had lot of problem with short term memory -so I'd forget stuff like keys - but I simply never forget things I read - I am a walking memory of many things that interest me. In campus I use to work fulltime from 3rd year and I use to read for only two days before exam - the entire course that I didnt attend - except if teacher was keen on marking register. Dont compare yourself with me. My primary maths score of 99 (KCPE) is yet to be broken in my school now going into 30yrs. Languages were only things that gave me a lot of trouble because they are unstructured.

The University of Nairobi will admit 50% of the Top KCSE students of 2019; The top students choice of courses is medicine, engineering, pharmacy, computer science, actuarial science, and architecture , among others.

JKUAT is the best engineering & IT school in Kenya.
UoN is the best in medicine courses.
UoN goes hand in hand with Jkuat on complex courses. I would rather do Actuarial science in JkUAT than doing it in UON.

Prof Cheruiyot is my drinking buddy and clansman...he was dean of jkuat IT until last month...he told me something along those lines.I have no clue but I think uon still carries the prestige but to honest it's teaching is crap...it just that it attracted best brains..I will definitely never go back to uon.. education was underwhelming and lectures lazy corrupt & useless.I am told the so called mulot boys are jkuat graduates..not far from my home but I heard they mostly illeterate..not really hackers..just fraudsters like Nigerians engaged in mobile money and now Bitcoin scam.

When the Architecture program was introduced to JKUAT back in the 90s most Lecturers were from UON( which was the only university at the time offering Architecture )...same to other courses .
UON is an old established university while JKUAT is a little "younger."
