Kenya debt - right now that commercial loan has falled from 30% of external to 15% - as we retired one Eurobond with another --didnt take the money - but used it to repay the other - and extended the maturity. Kenya debt problem is manageable - and that is why our macro-economics are stable. We listened to the warning signs - and have generally gone slow. This year Ruto gov will basically bring it to stand still - and in another year - we will be out of any problems - firing on all cylinders. 2 Likes

rvp20182:On Eurobond, since you know so little, let me answer you with this excerpt: In the five-year outlook (May 2022 to May 2027), several sub-https://www.uxolo.com/articles/7130/Which-African-sovereigns-are-most-likely-to-default Since you are ignorant about these things, Nigeria's Eurobond repayment is a paltry $2bn while Kenya's is $3bn. You could have gotten into deeper water if you hadn't run to borrow commercial loans this year instead of floating another Eurobond. All the same, it's still not an excellent deal for you. 2 Likes |

[quote author=Mkenya2019 post=118209208]As we speak - you took loan from exim bank of China - and all your bauxite has to be banked in escrow account in China crazy morons. We gave china our words on paper - not escrow account where money is banked and they deduct first. we pay china man when we want. They cant invade kenya. During covid we asked for more time. We are going to ask for more time...if we want in the future. China man doesnt have our money in some escrow account where he pays himself first. You must be only country in world to do this escrow thing with china. https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3126260/ghanas-bauxite-infrastructure-deal-chinas-sinohydro-faces Facing a severe infrastructure financing gap estimated at US$30 billion, Ghana two years ago turned to China to help it fund the building of roads, highways and power dams. The West African nation signed a bauxite-for-infrastructure deal with Chinese state-owned firm Sinohydro Corp in 2018 that would allow the Chinese company to invest about US$2 billion in Ghana’s infrastructure. In exchange, Ghana would use money earned from the sale of bauxite (the primary ore used to make aluminium), refined bauxite and aluminium to repay the loans. As collateral, Ghana agreed to establish an offshore escrow account for receiving revenues generated from the sale of bauxite. [/quote To think I suggested on ToT Gh should go for a MASSIVE century bond, collateralizing their gold and bauxite for a 50 yr bond of min 35 to max 50 bn $ to fix their infrastructure! I was fooled by their facade. To finally get water, sewerage, airports and harbours to grow their GDP. Truly, life is a learning experience!? Luckily for me I'm not a Waffas, meaning I'm not emotionally attached to my previous conclusions I now admit were laughably WRONG! |

vankelvin:It doesn't work that way, my friend. Spare us your buffoonery. What we need is economic freedom. We need room to breathe. We need to expand other sectors of our economy. Extending the debt maturity period is part of the strategy to achieve the aforementioned. 1 Like |

Just40:Spare us your selective amnesia. The link I gave out has a clear de-facto debt to GDP data; which is 78%. People who are lending you: IMF and WB, are projecting a whopping 104% of Ghanaian debt to GDP in 2023 - that is now an estimation, meticulously done by your lenders. They ain't throwing hot air. kikuyu1:@kikuyu1 nailed it. 2 Likes |

You don't have to be pissed because your country borrowed to invest in loss making business while we invested all our borrowed money into highly profitable businesses. |

Shma2022:Keep hoping that Ghana will join you in that league .. by close of year, Ghana 400 billion cedis debt will be less than 50% of GDP. IMF projection are mostly based on the assumption that more debt will be taken in 2023 with a the projection made under prevailing condition, which can't happen. As we speak, your country is already looking to borrow another 3 billion dollars from the UK while your president is smooching IMF ass for another money. Talking about infrastructure.... You and your country men are yet to mention any infrastructure that your country has more of than Ghana. Electricity Roads Water SGR Housing stock Housing under construction Education Health None of them Sleep for you have nothing |

Just40:What I emboldened is a pure speculation algorithm rooted from Guessmatics and word wasting. I am kinda busy today and tomorrow, but I will tackle for you your paltry road network, then tomorrow evening, I will be back with more analysis. Source: GHANA MINISTRY OF ROADS AND TRANSPORT. This is the original report released on February 2022. https://docs.google.com/viewerng/viewer?url=https://www.graphic.com.gh/images/2022/mar/31/Press_Release_on_Completed_Roads_at_SONA.pdf From the content above, you only have a total of 78400km total road network. Out of it, Only 77% is tarred/PAVED. Quick math gives us 18,000km thereabout. Kenya was there around 2015-2017 when Uhuru had not unleashed his g@nja on road infrastructure. Bonus: From the same report, Ghana had only added 68km of the new road network - which has already been factored in 18k km total paved. If we add 1200 asphalt overlay of the existing unpaved road... It will give us a paltry 1268km newly paved section, for the past 5yrs( 2017-2022). For a country that produces gold, oil, cocoa.. With possession of huge arable land.... That Is a disgrace. 1 Like

Shma2022:If your road network in 2017 was 18000 and you've added 68km, then you should be doing 18,068km in 2022. Ghana has only added 68km of new roads. The asphalt overlay is different. It's like re-carpeting the existing section, which in this case; will not count. https://www.lakeridgepaving.com/what-is-an-asphalt-overlay-and-why-is-it-important/

Shma2022:You don't seem to know how to read, so let me help you. In 2021.. the total classified road network size is 94,200km while total road network of both classified and I classified is 109,515km as at 2009. 27% of 109,515km gives you 29,569.05km of paved road network as at 2017... Add the 10,875km of paved roads completed by 2021 May and you'll get 40,444.05km This excludes additional 11,000km of road works still ongoing of which almost 5,000km had been completed in 2022. This is more than double the fraudulent numbers your country bundle up as paved road network.... Let me hear your excuses of how Ghana has gold and oil as if Kenya doesn't have gold and oil. What is laughable is that Ghana has more than twice your country highway network. 1 Like
