Ghana decided not to intervene untill the last month. Ghana ended 2022 with 8 billion dollars in forex and in February it was 6 billion.

There are some reports which were saying about naira being overvalued by a as high as 250%. If naira is floated freely, it might loose value by more than 150%, now imagine how it will affect the GDP figures and inflation,and the pride of being Africa's biggest economy. I don't think the shortsighted folks will accept their ego to die just like that.

No nation in the world allows her currency float freely continuously without intervening at some point in time.
Central Bank of Nigeria made it clear they would intervene much later when some backlogs are cleared. For now, naira is still trying to settle.

How long did it last in 2016. What matters is official USD exchange rate at end of 2016. If Buhari chicken out months - GDP remain overstimatd - at least nominal.
