Bauchi-The Arewa Youth Development Association, AYDA has condemned the call by a Northern Group for the extradition of Senator Buruji  Kashamu representing Ogun West on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for allegedly being wanted  in the United States of America to face trial for drug trafficking. Buruji Kashamu It will be recalled that  the youths, under the aegis of Northern Youths Movement (NYM) in a statement  by its Chairman, Mallam Ishaya Jato, challenged President Muhammadu Buhari  to either expedite the extradition of the PDP senator from Ogun State, Prince Buruji Kashamu to the United States of America to face trial for drug trafficking or forget about his anti-corruption fight. Reacting to the call  in a press conference on Monday, at Zaranda hotel in Bauchi, President of AYDA, Alhaji Salisu Mohammed described it  as not only baseless and unpatriotic but a great disservice to Senator Kashamu. Mohammed said: “Kashamu is an astute politician elected by the good people of Ogun West to  represent them as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If someone can contest and win an election as a senator to represent his people in the National Assembly, really this man must have been loved by his people. “This faceless group which claims to be speaking on behalf of the youth from the North are not known in the Northern part of the country. “The group is not speaking on behalf of the north, what they are saying is not right because Kashamu is an astute politician so the issue of extraditing him to the United States does not arise.” The AYDA President said the group which claimed to have spoken for the Northern youth ought to know that the matter of Kashamu vs the law Enforcement Agency is still in court and hence they have no locus standi to speak on the matter which is already before the court of law.
