A child spends much of his early years in the arms of his mother. When the mother fails to play her active role in the spiritual training and development of the child, it becomes disastrous for the child and the society at large.

As a mother you should be the first person to know your child’s purpose before anyone. How do you know this? When you have stayed long enough in the presence of the Master, wining and dining on the Word and following the prompting of the Holy Spirit; the Lord will hide nothing from you.

You can know what God will have your child do even before he is born. You can tarry in the place of prayer till you see in him that life God has purposed for him. You can rewrite the story of your child’s life even when it seemed he has gone off course. You can instil Godly values in your child while he is still young and innocent.

“Train up a child in the way he should grow, when he grows up he will not depart from the way which you have put him”

This is so true. The mind of a child is like a clean slate, whatsoever you write on it is what you see manifest. Most mothers have made the mistake of leaving their responsibility to the hands of housemaids or caregivers. They can only care for the outside; their care would not suffice for the inside.

If mothers can stand up to their role in the lives of their children, our world would be a far better place. A mother’s love goes beyond just physically taking care of her children; it is the life support of his destiny.

As most people practice christainese, going to church without any real encounter, so also most women practice mothernese, giving birth to children without supplying them with enough spiritual nourishment to go out into the world and add value to the world.

These kinds of women have been described as ostriches;

The wings of the ostrich flap joyfully, but they cannot compare with the pinions and feathers of the stork.

She lays her eggs on the ground and lets them warm in the sand

unmindful that a foot may crush them, that some wild animal may trample them

she treats her young harshly as if they are not hers, she cares not that her labour was in vain,

for God did not endow her with wisdom or give her a share of good sense

yet when she spreads her feathers to run, she laughs at the horse and rider”

The Ostrich scorns her children as God has not given her the wisdom of a mother. So we can’t blame her, she doesn’t know any better.

Most women are like ostriches, though they attain fame, power. They ignore their responsibilities as mothers.

Even the sea monsters draw out the breast; they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel like the ostriches in the wilderness.

God needs a mother! God needs Godly mothers who will wait on him to hear His plan and purpose for their family. God needs mothers like the Proverbs 31 woman whose children called her blessed. God needs mothers who will push in the place of prayer until they get results. God needs mothers in this generation who like Jochebed will stand out and fight for her children’s destiny and purpose. Imagine if Jochebed did not hide Moses; imagine if Hannah had not given Samuel up to the Lord. Imagine if Mary had scorned the angel’s message and imagine if Klara Hitler had taken her time to instruct Adolf Hitler properly in the way of the Lord.

Godly children can still be found in this generation, but only if you would stand up to your responsibilities as a mother.

Will you?
