Following intense pressure from security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the Edo State governorship election by two weeks. The INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu made the announcement on Thursday in Benin city, the state capital. The election had earlier been scheduled for Saturday September 10, 2016. Recall that both the Nigerian Police Force and the Department Of State Security Services had yesterday advised INEC to Postpone the Election over Security threats possed by Ex- Militants. The Edo Governorship election will now hold on the 24th Of September 2016:

This postponement will not help any party as most people must have made up their minds on who to vote for. Postponing an election that has been long schedule is irresponsible and doesn't portray INEC, the security agencies and the country in good light. Jonathan started this silly practice and unfortunately, APC is going through the same silly and condemnable route. This is not acceptable.
