The noblest thoughts that ever flowed through the minds of men are preserved in printed pages. Producing a book, therefore, is a calling of no mean importance.

The situation in 2005, for example, where the LNG Prize for literature could not be awarded because the panel of judges asserted that all the short-listed works were riddled with grammatical and typographical errors underscores the need for something many publishing houses have hitherto ignored – the need for competent editorial intervention by an outsider in any given work.
